| if he filed for a lost title he would still have to find the guy who sold him the car to sign the title or he will have to forge the guys name on it | |

| talk to a mechanic and have him put a labor lean on the car. when he gets a title put it in your name. Think that will work | |

| dmv is going to tell him to contact the person whos name its still in.. have them file for lost title etc. this is why there is laws for having an "open title" and not switching names.. lol your best bet is to stay out of the DMV and go to a small time liscence and title place who will work some "magic" for you . i had to do the same with my old astro that fred sparks got from jess siegers... jessie thought it was cute to scribble alllll over the back of the title.. i was the 2nd owner since him so it was no fun, but found me a good guy to "help" out and got it registered no problem.. well besides what i mentioned.. lol | |

x2 on the little license and title joint. I had a mess of an "open title" and multiple bills of sales and a lean showing on the title... $60 later the car is mine and registered for 2 years.

| yeah dmv's are no help! i had a motorcycle with no title and went in there trying to get it transferred and they ended up making it a bigger mess! ended up just sellin bike without title rather then deal with them! | |
