While we're on the subject what is USACI's thoughts on the pf600's 4 ohm rating? Is there an older pf600 that can only be used in 0-6 or what?

the pf600 is a true 0-600 watt amp. From what I read, its the same as the old amp, except the color. There is a post on here about it.

How does no one notice the company rates the amp above the limit for 0-600?

this was an amp that was tested by USACi and made it within the 20%, and nothing has changed, from what I have read. I could be wrong...........

i have a new pf600.1 and a old 1 and they are strapped so there is no difference and i just explained the 30% rule for a amp being challenged to taylor its complicated but christoph did what needed to be done to make his amp legit! there are alot of other amps im sure that could make the 30% but the companies dont protest their own amp like he did!

It looks like an amp that is in the wrong class. The rules state Manufacturer's rated power. In plain black and white, the amp is rated for 800 watts at 4 ohm (if the above post is accurate). The 30% rule only applies if an amp is under protest. The amp is rated at 600 watts for 4 ohm, but is protested to do more power. When the testing is complete. The amp can not produce more than 780 watts at 4 ohm to stay legal. That is 600 + 30% = 780.

yes just like xfl said christoph knew that with the 30% rule he could get it admitted into stock 0-600 but how many companies do you know who will protest their own amp to get it added to a class? my book actually says 770w at 4 ohms! i bet there are alot of amps that could. somebody just has to put up the $ and send in a amp and how many peopele have that much extra $ to do that and a extra amp to send to get tested for god knows how long it will take them!! i know its messed up but thats the way the rules are so thats what happens any amp can get protested and get the 30% treatment they just arent so it comes down again to who is willing to do what for the competition! just how i see it!

why are there so many haters? the amp was approved for USACI and numerous world records were won using them and nothing has changed. Everyone would have to be stripped of their titles and world records would have to be removed from the books and money refunded for saying it is legal, all because simple minded people cry about something? That doesn't make sense. If a company chooses to rate their amps either high or low, either way, if they have it tested by USACi and USACi finds it legal, then it is freaken legal. Every year that the PF600 has been around, someone has won a world title with it, so you would have to do away with USACi altogether. If that's the case and that's what you want, then just simply leave and go somewhere else.

That mentality, along with gray areas like this, are what is bringing this organization down.

what is bringing down the SPORT as a whole are cry babies that can't adapt. Every org. is down on attendance across the board. If you don't like it either put up your money and protest, or deal with it and stop crying, its simple. I'm not trying to run you off, but........

Who's crying?

If a manufacturer knows their amp is power enough that they need to rate it above 600w that alone should be enough to disqualify their amp from use in competitions. That's how the rulebook reads anyway. We all know that doesn't matter.

I haven't seen a hater yet. What I see are people, like myself, who are confused how an amp rated at 800w @ 4ohm is allowed to compete in 0-6 classes. If someone from USACI can answer the question I will be thrilled to hear it. Your post has more bitching and complaining than any post prior to it in this thread.

So, what you're saying is ... no matter what an amp is officially rated, if it gets rated as less than 780@4, 1560@2 and 3120@1, we can use it???

If so, lets open things up a bit! There are quite a few "dirty power" amps that will stay under those numbers at 1% THD... maybe a Power Acoustik 5000 watt amps might be in 0-600 this year!

if the company has the confidence in their amp, they should have no problem protesting their own amp and pay the money plus give away a free amp, then by all means have them do it. If DD had the confidence they could get their new amp in the 600 watt class.

The facts have been posted and you are still questioning it. Either buy one and use it or get in an unlimited class. Its as easy as that.

usaci use to have a amp certification process cactus sent there's in to congent labs and it was tested per usaci's rules ie distortion of 10% 14.4v on a ficxed compacitor (let me know if this is to techincal) and they got a 4ohm power number then took the allowed 30%, and walla got 600@4 dynamic has nothing to do with it since it was used by this certification process.

walla an amp that will woop your ass, and make you want to know why

this forum has histrical files try reading them sometime, and you will be enlightened
because all you new guys want everything handed to you so you dont wanna read.
