| The box looks pretty well made... but DBDaddy is right, something's not right with the port (atleast in the picture). If you can post a pic of the inside of the box, showing how the port is set up, that would help. DC doesn't have too many manufacturer defects... so if the box is done right, it would have to be in the amplifier/wiring/voice coil configuration. Make sure you have all the subs "in phase" with each other, and in the right configuration: BCAE Article on ImpedenceNext, make sure the amplifier is putting out proper power. Use one of the 3 methods below: The Suicidal Egg Roll's Gain Setting TutorialIf you're near the Medical Center, I'd be glad to help. My boxes aren't pretty, but I have built quite a few | |

| So I'm guessing that the port is shaped like a tall "U"... and opens right behind the subs, in the top of the box. The dimensions you gave, say that the box is ~8 cubic feet internal volume, and that means your port dimensions (according to The 12 Volt Calculator) dictate a 30 Hz tuning. Even for 15's, that's pretty low tuning. Was this according to DC specs? Also, your port area is just fine, having an area/box volume ratio of 11.6. The port width/height ratio is ~10, and the rule-of-thumb maximum is 7, so somewhere between the excessively low tuning and shape of the port MAY be part of the problem... but it shouldn't be drastically reduced output... something else may be funky. | |
