USACI WORLD FINALS - 09/26/2008

For Immediate Release.

USACI announced today that the 2008 USACI World Finals and Tuner Jam will be re-locating to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. Every effort is being made to keep the current dates. Event specifics including hotels will be updated frequently over the next week. Despite incredible efforts and input on behalf of the Omaha retailers and USACI, there were obstacles to the event in the Omaha market that could not be overcome.

USACI would like to thank Stereo West, Inphase Audio, Nebraska Furniture Mart, and Metro Audio for all their efforts. "While we at USACI are disappointed to be making a change so late in the season we welcome the opportunity to take USACI Finals back to Texas and develop a new venue" stated Ralph Randall, USACI's president. "We also have several forthcoming announcements coming about our new finals sponsors and the plans for our new venue!" he continued. These announcements can be expected over the next 5-7 days.

USACI has a very strong support base in the mid-south region that includes Texas and the move will undoubtedly increase not only competitor attendance but spectator turnout as well. Several manufacturers have already committed to support the event and we expect several more in the next two weeks. www.usaciworldfinals.com will be updated as contracts are secured. Please visit the site regularly.

There are hotels close to the event, I believe one is actually across the street from what someone told me.

I gotta say I'm not excited about the last minute change...but from what I hear it couldn't be avoided. I totally understand why some people may not be able to make the longer trip but Jimbo has a point, finals has been "up north" for quite a while we'll just need to adapt to it. If your serious about competing you'll find a way to make it or you just don't want it bad enough I guess. Phinney and I will be there in 0-600 pro in the "bumble bee" (formerly known as the booger 2) Besides...It'll be a good excuse to go see Rob and Jimbo on there home turf again anyway.

Cool, 972 mile 16 hours 59 minutes....... discount thats what im talking about, I'd be there anyhow but a discount just makes it that much better, right on Ralph!!!!!!!!

anyone that needs info on hotels just pm me and i will try to get you in the right direction. as for the hotels across from the fair grounds i don't recommend them at all. i would try the first three on the link below

if you don't mind driving about 10 miles i would look at these hotels in the links below. these are just a little bit nicer hotels little cleaner. myself i will drive up saturday morning and sunday morning since i am only 100 miles

now for the security issue dallas police patrol around the park all night you will see anywhere from 2 to 5 cop cars at anytime so i wouldn't worry about parking inside the fair grounds.

So does USACi have a block at any hotels? Where is everyone staying at?

no oct 5th was the points cutoff but ralph extended it.....

So will there be security on Sunday night for those departing on Monday?

usually at finals the cars have to be out of the venue saturday after closeing ceremony. so you would have to find some place to put it after that. but i could be wrong, this is how it has been for the last 5 years ?

Isn't it Sunday it has to be out?

That area isn't the best place in Dallas. I would look at hotels in Mesquite or Garland off I30. That is about 10 to 15 minutes away from the state fair grounds.

Ya I've been reading some very bad reviews of some of the hotels in that area... Not sure what I am gonna do then, guess taxi everywhere. Also do we need to have vehicles parked in area Friday night?? and can take on saturday after show?? This will be my first finals so just curious..

in the past, vehicles are parked in the venue Friday. You have most of Friday to set-up camp inside the building - so you'll have time to clean and prep then.

Most of the time, you can't remove your vehicle until the event is completely over.

Your best bet is to find a group and get either a rental or taxi together.

This is what we've had to do at every other finals....Omaha and KC both.

you know the area is not any worse than where finals were in kansas city.

i never went to finals but for the last 2 years i have been around kansas city a bunch and i observed the area where finals were and both places are about the same.

I live about 45 mile from the show but there are many Hotels in my area that will be priced well and safe.

so if the nice hotels are 15 min away, is that walking time, or driving time

Well this year, my wife and I are coming out. So we can split taxi fare with you and Mon...wait, you guys are local, I can see Monte driving the beast out there, and leaving your car. Then you two head home each night. Sheesh. Or are you guys going to be staying in town near the show?

yeah, we're staying at the house. it's only like 30 - 45 min away. we don't know enough yet to know who is going to be where. i know we're going to have a few ppl staying with us. because of that, we're most likely going to be renting a van to shuttle back and forth. once we have a more solid plan, i'll let ppl know. don't exactly want to post it up on the interwebz though....heheh

we are talking about having a few tuning sessions at the house early in the week though.
