| In the Stock division, can the second or third battery be placed in the engine compartment? | |

| The Rule doesn't specify that, so I guess yes. | |

| The physical size of each battery is limited to 800 cubic inches (13110 cubic cm) or less. (Height x Length x Width. Excluding the battery terminals.) The physical shape of the battery is irrelevant. These size limitations apply only to Stock 0-600, 601-1800 and 1801-300. Any class and/or division that allows unlimited batteries also allows batteries of any size. The only bend to this I see is if the vehicle came with 2 batteries under the hood. I know some trucks do, but not the kind used in SPL. The rules state for the stock classes 1 + Stock 2+ stock ect ect So you can have 1 additional to the stock locatation under the hood. There isnt much room to run with this one. | |

| This would not be allowed. It would be no different than having the batteries mounted underneath the vehicle or any other external location. The only way it would be allowed is if the vehicle came factory with two batteries under the hood and the total amount of batteries fell within the rules for your particular class. | |

| I was a verification judge at finals last year and that is how it would have been ruled. Also I have asked that question before when I was competing and was told the same that I just told you. | |

| No problem. Trust me, if they would have allowed this I would have had a few more NSB's under the hood of my CRX some way or another at finals in 2006. | |

| I believe it falls under equipment must be in the cargo area for stock classes. You are allowed stock +1 or stock +2 but the +1 or +2 fall under the audio equipment category and therefore must be in the cargo area. Batteries aren't allowed in front of the bpillar in the CRX's nor are they allowed to sit on the floor in the back seat of an SUV. Making a battery rack to add additional batteries under the hood is no different than either of these scenarios. I think the rules are pretty clear on that and this is a grey area not worth trying to get away with. I can promise it will not be allowed. | |

| That Pic provides an interesting scenerio. Those batts are 6.5 x 7 x 6 = 273 CU in each so 546cu.in combined, and yet they stay in the "factory" locatation. It looks no diffrent then when you wedge a G31/K2400/Oddesy/ect ect in that spot. Is there an advantage to this? Possibly as you have more individual cell's which will normally increase current capability. If this gets passed then whats next, a bank of hawkers? I think Matt and myself have said it, we both judge shows, and Matt was a finals verification judge. Unless you are waiting for the big guy himself Thats a pretty good ruling. | |
