So my oldest son has had both his Chickenpox shots. Do they really work or Whiskey Tango Fox?
I ask because my son got the chickenpox at the start of this school year. The doctor said that because he had the shots his breakout shouldn't be that bad ... well it wasn't.
BUT ... Friday we noticed a couple of spots on him ... then Saturday A LOT more ... today ... a TON! We took him in and found out that sure as ship ... chickenpox again!
So if isn't suppose to be as bad ... why did he get it in the first place ... let alone this go around ... and why the frig is he getting them like we did when we were kids?
Have any of you come accross this or know of others that have? According to the doctor this is an extreme rarity! Should my son be playing the lottery or something? Or since starting the shots we have created a new more potent strain of the virus?

hey gabe....my girlfriend said that it sounds like it didnt take. the shot is a very small dose of the virus so the body can build aminity to the virus. but looks like he it didnt take. same thing happened to her cuz. and she said yes it is like the lottery if it works or not cause this is a newer vaccine so...she said she will give her aunt a call to ask her what the told her and ect.

Sounds like the virus mutated, or like you say a different version of the virus attacked him. His immune system hadnt encountered this particular strain so there was no prior knowledge of how to defeat it.

Seems to me the doctor gave him only a small dose. My daughter got hers at a very young age.
