| Who is going to participate in the $150 SPL Challenge? LINK to the main page on CALINK TO Page on CACO Participants:Chrisbaldelli (Tinmanchris217) - APSM-1300 + 4 HFi12D4 = 138.5dB (@ 82 Hz!) F3M4 - MBrooky - Autotek AT2000.1 (525 wRMS @ 2) + lots of cheap subs?? PoundStone - a tiny amp + 3 or 4 15's TaylorFade - APSM-1300 + 4 HFi12D4 Tijuana_no - cheap "3000" watt amp + 2 HFi12D4 = 146.4 dB TommyK90 - Quis - Amps:Audiopipe APSM-1300 isn't too stable at 1/2 ohm. 80 amps of fusing. $93.85 Autotek Super Sport AT2000.1 is 1 ohm stable. 100 amps of fusing. $105 Crunch PRZA1500.1 is a beefy 1 ohm amp. 120 amps of fusing. $111 Crunch GPV2000.1 same as above, with 100 amps of fusing. $125 Legacy LA1400 is 2 ohm stable. 80 amps of fusing. $60 Sound Storm SSL EV2500M is 2 ohm stable. 60 amps of fusing. $89 Sound Storm SSL EV3000D is 1 ohm stable. 60 amps of fusing. $114 The challenge is simple, get as loud as possible with $150 or less. Classes are Trunk, SUV, Hatch, and Truck. Sealed or Outlaw is allowable. Just video the score and the setup to show it's legit. If anyone else is interested, post up. Would be nice to get a group at either of the above shows... and get some attention for the build skills that USACI competitors bring to the table. @ Admins - This is not meant to take traffic, attention, or money from USACI. This is not affiliated with any organization (or myself). It should bring people to shows, for some light-hearted fun.

| So how can you prove you only paid 150 for the whole set up? If I found a crack head deal on some decent equipment people are gonna \"Female dog\" if it did a number lol. | |

| It's the new gear price, from widely available internet dealers. Ebay purchases must be Buy It Now prices... and you have to be willing to sell your gear for around $150 + shipping. So your crackhead Audioque AQ1200 would still be considered the factory-direct price ($250) and not allowable. Unlike serious competition organizations, the goal isn't to break the rules... LOL. And even if you do, the fame and glory aren't worth soiling everyone else's fun. It's just an enjoyable way to showcase your building and testing skills. Some guys are getting 145 dB (termlab) already... which isn't too shabby considering it's 500-1000 watts of dirty power and a few 1.5" or 2" voice coils. | |

| i was thinkin bout it for fun but got too many other things goin on to do it but yeah its new equipment only and you have to show reciepts for it for the price you paid and show a link or some other proof of where you got it and it has to be available to everybody not a 1 time only buy it and ther is only 1 if theres like 15 or 20 of them and they can get them later and its a closeout price they say you can use it but from just kinda pricing stuff the hifi 12's and ap 1300mini is what everybody is using they are the best equipment you can get new for that cheap you can get like 3-4 hifi 12's and a ap 1300 for like 138-150 shipped if you find the right deals. | |

| Excellent! What did you end up buying?
I know you've got it under control, but if you want to test-n-tune together, let me know. Might have an extra sub to "test its failure mode"... for purely academic purposes of course.
Considering everyone who is signed up already, I'm expecting somebody in USACI to pull a 50. We'll see who gets there first.

| Big Props to Taylor! 148.5 with 4 HFi's and the 1300.
@ PoundStone, Thanks for the heads up. I'll update the price on the Audiopipe amp. If you hadn't guessed, this thread is dual purpose - give our group as much advantage as possible... and get more people involved.

| The Uber Contributor has spoken. Pizza Land it is! @ USACI MD, Check out the 2 links I provided at the top. You can get metered at any USACI (or dBDr*g, etc) show that uses a TermLab, or if you know someone with a TL that's fine too. Just video the mic placement, screen results, and equipment used. As long as your equipment is less than $150, and the mic placement is legal (sealed, on the dash) or outlaw (in the kick, door open if you want)... your score should count. The rules aren't heavily structured, so the honor system is in effect. Even if you cheat, there's not really a prize... so there's no incentive to the added effort of cheating. On the flip side, USACI and other groups collect our entry fees and get the free publicity. | |

| So if it's not a Crunch (according to CACO)... and it's not an Autotek...
It can't be MB Quart, since their "German engineering" is worth a few extra bucks. The bottom level HFi (1000.1D) has 80 amps of fuse, and the 1500.1D is too expensive.
You probably got a "Weekend Shift" knock-off of the Autotek/Crunch. But that's my final guess.
Your ninja amp selecting skills confound me.

Actually, this isn't true. I'll be making plaques for the winners and we already have some donations for prizes. For example... ToolMaker is donating some copper quad inputs. Tasty.

Time to turn Danny Brittain and cram unnamed hardware under my box. (yes, I went there... and no it's not true.) That's actually really good news. Toolmaker will get some good press for his work, and the winners will get some high-end gear. Do you think he'll make a quad 1/0 into 4 awg so we can really get the most out of our tiny amps? LOL.

Aren't you local? You should swing by on Monday. I'll be redoing the box.

| Thanks for the offer, but BR is quite a drive now. I spent 5 years @ LSU (and loved every minute there), now I'm at University of Houston for a Master's. H-town has alot more smog and traffic, but it's a major step up with regard to restaurants, concerts, school districts, and job opportunities. I'll be here for a couple more years.
Which vehicle is the $150 setup going in?

If you have a TL, just make a vid of the gear and the run. If you don't, go to a local show and record the run.
