| I'm going to start my build in my 2008 Chevy Colorado extended cab. I was curious if anyone else has done anything with on of them. My order for a pair of Audioque HDC3 18's and a 3500D should be here tomorrow. I plan on using the pair in 11.5 cubic feet net before sub and port displacement. I'll be going with a pair of 6" ports per sub. | |

| After doing some research it seems that subs forward and ports up work well in extended cab vehicles. Anyone have any other suggestions? | |

| Not sure if you'll have room, but subs forward and ports to side work and subs to side and port to other side work. Common tho is as you said. Subs forward and ports up. | |

You're right in assuming that I don't have the room for anything other than ports up or forward. As it is the enclosure will be less than 2" from the sides of the truck LOL.

| I have been expiramenting and believe it or not subs back ports forward has kind of worked better than expected but I still need a little more work before we show it off | |

| OK, well with the room I have, subs up won't work and if I fire backwards I lose alot of enclosure volume...so neither can work for me LOL. I guess I am stuck at subs forward and ports forward or up. Good news is my amps came in today: | |

| OK, I am going to build my box this weekend, so I wanna go over a couple of things with you guys to make sure I am headed in the right direction overall. I have competed SPL, but only in the Extreme class, so this is a new venue for me. I am going to build the enclosure out of Birch Ply from Home Depot. I have been using it alot lately and it seems to work very well as long as it is braced properly. I am planning on doubling up on all sides of the enclosure and doing internal bracing with wooden dowels as not to impede air flow. My subs will be firing forward (my only choice) and my port will be a slot port firing up and I am going to run it the entire width of the enclosure. I have had good luck with that when building other people's systems, but if you have a better idea, please lemme know. I am also trying to decide what to cover the enclosure in as I plan to show my truck as well as compete, so it needs to look good as well as get loud. My HO alt from DC Power should be on the way today and I am meeting a person in Waco (they are from Dallas) to buy a pair of the C and D Kinetik 3800 equivalents. These will either go in a rack I will weld together under the truck or they will go in the bed. Any input is appreciated because even if I think I have this planned well, I may be off LOL | |

I hope so. The last build I did was while I was in Germany and I did about half the work on an Extreme 2 car for dB Drag. It hit a 174.6 and was improving. Now I am just doing this for fun, but I am competitive so it has to be right too LOL.

| To add one more thing. My plan is to use a slot port that is the entire width of the enclosure so it would be 48wide x 3" deep x 10.75 long to give me a tuning of 35Hz, does that sounds correct after factoring in end factor? | |

| OK guys, I have two sheets of birch ply and six 4 foot wooden 1.25'' dowels sitting here waiting to be cut. Any input/comments/suggestions would be good now LOL | |

| Well, this sucks. Put the enclosure in and in my infinite wisdom, my seats sit right in front of 1/3 of the port esentially sealing it off. Anyone want a wall 10 cubes NET tuned to 35Hz? LOL Time to rethink my strategy...might have to use more and smaller subs to get the port firing up! | |

just leave enough fabric to sew the flap over. I'm gonna have the stock seats redone, so that's gonna happen then. Good idea!

| Well, ended up selling the AQ 18's and bought 10 10's. Here's the enclosure. I went to the Shades event and did a 147.6 with track #11 on the dB Drag DB Jams volume 9 CD which was a 40Hz down to 30Hz sweep. My CD player skipped at any tones higher than 40Hz and I had my crossover set to 63Hz lowpass at 24dB/Octave slope...wish I would have remembered to change that! I think the setup has some potential. | |
