dd subs in small enclosure with port outside the box ? help

hello everyone,

i went to a few shows this past month and i see alot of dd subs in little enclosures with a giant port outside the box.

anyone know anything about these? the people with them are putting up pretty high numbers.

i would like to build one for my 9515d but i have no clue how to or what that port is tuned too or what air space i need ion the enclosure.

i want to build one for a 1995 mustang and another for a 2001 tahoe.

can anyone help.

are you doing 100% spl?

what shows were u at? where are u from??? maybe thre is someone in ur area that can help?

i want to build one just for spl, and maybe remove it and put something else in if i want to play just music.

i am from new york , i went to a few in new jersey. i spoke to the people who had them but they didn't seem like they wanted to tell me anything.

i figured i would post on the forums, hoping someone would be helpful.

i have the equipment i just want to get the most out of it.

i am only hitting mid 140's with 2 dd 9515's.

i know they can do soo much more. these guys are hitting 150's with just one.

what is your setup to only hit mid 140's with 2 9515's

What power you running?? I have made 2 9515's in 4 cubic foot total with 6 4" aeroports work alright without alot of power. Did this in my quad cab 2003 F150. Subs forward ports back like crx style. Mustangs are not good for spl from what I have seen. The Tahoe can get loud though.

it was more a musical setup than spl, i was running 1 audiobahn a18001 amp per sub ( suppose to be 1800 watts @ 1ohm )

same setup with different box was hitting 153 in my grand cherokee. now i am going back to the grand cherokee just for comps .

i want to build a strictly spl box.
