What can Usaci do to bring in new competitors

As it says. Show turn outs are way down. The old big boys are still around. What can be done to get the new guys into Usaci again? I know this has been brought up before, but seriously, we need to do something to get new competitors or this will die out in a few years. Promoters aren't going to keep doing shows with the turnouts we have been getting the last two years. What can Usaci do or what as competitors can we do to get new blood in the sport?

well I evan said something today about it that not all shows but their should be some free shows out their from USACI not others but from them in diffrent areas so everyone gets a chance to get in on some free shows. Also the SWAT bump nights or beatoffs if some others would do this like 1 time a month get new guys in to try it out with out loseing it might make them want to come to a show to see wheir they can place.

i dont think i could go to a show called a "beatoff"

beat offs are fun we had a dancing weiner at the last one....some one should have taped that magoo. what more do ya need then a dancing weiner at a beat off....lol

I am always 1 of the 1st there and almost last 2 leave and I am responsable 4 the dancing weiner I can't believe maddog can make a weiner bounce like that

We have some very good ideas to work with.

The two main issues that I see are as follows;

1. First time competitors. We need a beginners (stock) class again. And we need to track their progress. Don't let veterans dominate the stock classes.

2. Retail involvement. I believe it begins with the Retailer. If the local shops are not into competition and are not promoting sound offs. Then the custumers don't know anything about it. Even if the local shops have to work together.

most every retail shop ive ever talked to stopped having shows a couple years back because 1 ..its big money to do somthing they can do there selfs with a meter.. and they didnt like the un organised ran shows they where forking out cash for ...i understand people gotta make a living ..but i think that is also hurting it on the retail side of things...i remember a few years ago in st louis there was a show at a shop about every week..

i hate having to pay for gas and to pay for and entryfee and taking days off to go to shows to make sure i have enought points to go to finals and pay a lot of money for finals just to get my arse kicked because i didn't go out and buy an spl vehicle... i love to go around and show off to my friends how loud my truck is and stuff cause its one of the louder vehicles in the area, i didn't say the loudest, and to top it all off... my class is mod 0-1 cause i took out the back seat in my dakota... but im not gonna put a wall in it... huh pay to drive to finals... pay to compete at finals and get my arse handed to me... i don't like that idea... but everybody needs to realize ralph has employees he has to pay top dollar for cause everybody gets paid top dollar ..... the more i think about it the more i hate it... to be competeive in the sport in any class you need to buy thousand dollar amps and hundreds of dollars on subs and wiring and all that and then pay money to compete... and then on the retail aspect of it... why pay hundreds of dollars to hire sombody to come in and set up a mike and hand out shiny pieces of plastic when you can do the same thing for way less and even possibly pocket some of the money from entry fees and stuff... sounds like a better idea... to me... lets make money from this instead of loosing money on it... or maybe i should just tune my system to listen to daily and enjoy it the way the equipment is used for in millions of vehicles in the country

well thats why i say make a local class for new guys.. if you wana compete..and are running national level classes..i dont think your going to be able to get around the cost of being competitive...if you built a car to compete ...and built it so that you got put in mod class, thats not usacis fault..if you build a spl car..pic a class then build to the rules...

so your saying i need to put my box onto my back seat... im just using myself as an example of joe somebody on the streets and how they would look at it... mr. s10 isn't in mod and his box is in the same place mine is...

but we could go on for hours and by the time everything is said and done... nothing will have changed

if u wanna play with the big boys...pay up...end of story... if you like to listen to your car...do street beat...and if u you are a local new guy....we need a class for them....we get that...
we dont need to add more classes when we have more classes then we need now...so lets keep the rules the way they are they are the best rules we have had in the 6 years ive been in usaci... read my quote below...i think this is something that can help instead of bitching guys...we all have to take off work and work shows into our work lives...if im in college working 40 hours a week ...and still making it to shows, workin on the car,while making a living and taking classes and passing them, yall can do it too...

The best thing 2 bring more people in is if every1 found 1 guy or friend at a show that expresses intrest and take them under ue wing helpem out boxes tuning or event equipment lendem a hand helpem get loud and then we have just doubled the amount of people competing look at the small things we can do instead of asking a 20yr plus orginization 2 revamp and change everything all of us can make good points and give good ideas to usaci but if we put more effort 2 helping others we can make the diffrence nsted of asking 1 man (ralph) 2 do it

agreed...i think team sweep is doin the best at this you speak of..

if i remember correctly...i think tim told me they are bringing like 10 or 11 cars...i think ...now dont quote me on this but i think 4 or 5 are new guys that are gettin pretty serious...and they are getting some help from the guys so...much props...

i have sportsmanship ....lol ask tim s. last year at finals what we did for eachother and we were beating up against eachother in the same damn class....

but u and i are personal....and this is a fun sport...but u and i will always be personal...
