| I liked the trophies. Although the USACi stick on over the columns began to peel back on the way home from Omaha.
I like Sibley's stance on this aswell. However I just don't see it working for alot of folks. IMO.

| I had nothing against the trophies. That wasn't my point. I know that they cost more than the 6 footers. You can never make everyone happy with the tropheis.
Personally I like nice cups or plaques, but that's me. The way that I look at it is this: in 20 years will you be more likely to have a 6' plastic trophy in your living room or a cup or plaque?

| We already have a regional event. Thunder In the Heartland, and attendance has dwindled each yr. |

| The team cups will be every year. The trophies thsi year were limited in that if they got any taller they looked bad. It is a new process and we have to work on some alternative for 2008. Cups may be in the mix as well but they are much smaller and yet more expensive. | |

| Nice big cups would kick butt. But would have to be nice sized. I mean it already looks funny having a 7ft. trophy for 06 finals next to a 4ft. trophy for 07 and have to explain they are both for 1st place. LOL. But if Ralph could find some nice LARGE cups and stick with the same award for years then it would be cool. | |

That’s a great idea Steve! What are you smoking? Let’s say that one of the competitors in my region (you know, the region that wasn’t anointed worthy enough to have a Regional Finals), oh let’s just say, lives in Sacramento California. Round trip to and from Dallas … 3800 miles. Then he turns around and heads to Omaha … another 3300 miles round trip. At 12 miles per gallon, and gas at $3.25 a gallon, that’s a mere $1,922 … in gas alone! Add in hotels, meals, and miscellaneous expenses and the cost of being “the chosen one” in his class and division is just a tad prohibitive!

| To have regional events would mean that there should be an event within so many miles in each region, correct? What about us in the West and the peeps in the Northwest? We barely have regular shows let alone regionals.
Tim, Ralph, whomever, please let me know what I can do to help get this going in the Colorado area. I would be glad to help out. I am sure that James and a few others would be willing to help out as well.

| How many big shows a year do we have like Thunder in the heartland and texas heatwave and so on ?
Adding more of these big shows may help get attendence up and if your asked or required to attend one of these shows to compete at finals. This would help make them bigger shows.
We all need to do our part like Ralph stated and try and get more shows and more attendence in these shows. Get the word out that there is interest and maybe a petition from competetors around each area and take them to shops and show how much interest there is and how benefitial it would be to hold a show or two. Just a suggestion.

| Having the required Regionals would mean that each director would need to have one in his region. Thats the only fair way to do it. I wasn't trying to make things more expensive for the competitors, I think a State Finals, Regional Finals, and National Finals would yield three exciting shows that everyone in a given area could attend. It makes things more competitive, more fun, and hopefully closer to home for many that weren't given the chance to attend a "regional" before. | |

| I think that we should form a committee to select delegates that will hold symposiums at various locations around the country. These symposiums will gather information on the possibility of looking into holding regionals in some, all or none of the regions. The findings of these symposiums will then be referred to a committee, whose members shall be elected by the delegates who held the symposiums. Now then, the committee will compile the information and decide who to inform of their findings. From there the findings will, undoubtedly, be tabled for future reference and referred to at such time as decided by those who decide.
Sound good? | |
