2008 Rules

Have the rules for 2008 been written/released/or whatever yet? If so, where can I find a copy? The website just has the 2007 rules on it right now - so am just curious.

I am trying to figure out what class I am going to build for - etc.

Rules will more tha likely be the same Dave.

I thought we were going to have a competitors meeting before the rules were estblished.

I've spoken to Ralph regarding a Competitor's meeting and he referred me to an email he had sent to all the directors earlier. A paragraph from that email reads thus:

Good News.... With the success of 2007 we will make NO CHANGES to the rules or classes for 2008. Minor tweaks of existing rules may be made occasionally but the rules for the most part will remain unchanged for the first time in many years. Let you competitors know!

I can only assume that as he has determined that the rules will remain unchanged and that the need for a member's or Competitor's meeting is moot also.

There will be no rules changes for 2008. Same classes as well.

No waiting on rules or worrying about changes. No reason to get a late start on the season. Go out and build!



AS for a members meeting. We will have a memebrs meeting, most likely in conjunction with a large event, later in the season to discuss 2009. Expect mid Jine or July will be the time.

so what was legal for sb at finals, will be again legal this yr. No music requirement changes?

Street Beat requires "MUSIC". This will be "DEFINED" but not changed.

ok, how long till we have a definition. I guess what I am asking, Is the cds used last yr at finals gonna be legal again this yr.

Most likely there will be a "STREET BEAT" disk. Very least there will me limits on certain cd's, particualry ones that are designed specifically to be tones disguised as music.

if there is in fact going to be a disc, when can we expect to see it. So people can build for this disc. This I think is the biggest thing people are waiting on to determing build. So it is a major stopping point for me anyways.

I would say make the disc part of the 09 changes. Being that the 08 season has already started for some, I know I called the office and spoke to Darville and he told me the disc was NOT going to happen. So I assumed accordingly. I dont know what the fix is. For this yr. maybe another yr of the same, then changes for 09 would be in best interest?!?!

So will the usaci CD be the one Required. Or will we still be able to use any other musical CD as long as its deemed legal by the judge?, Thanks for you response on here in a timely fashion. Its greatly appreciated.

I FEEL that the only way to level the playing field here is to have 1 official disc that everyone uses. This disc should be created with no biasness toward any frequency range, but rather a mix of constant bass notes that vary greatly from 30 to 80 hz. This would truly evaluate a systems ability to Street Beat. Back to old school, back to what really generates excitement among spectators. A song with one constant note throughout is not exciting, but if the rules don't change, I assure you that everyone will be doing the same thing this year and the intent of the class along with it's appeal to the average consumer will be undermined again.

Yes this is coming from the guy who commissioned 'that cd' I will play by the letter of the rule and I did. But I truly didn't like it.

Nationally recongnized published recording artist, Nationally comercially available and HAS TO HAVE LYRICS

Need to be a bit more specific still. Anyone can add tracks to a nationally recognized star's song, and then publish it for sale / download on a commercial website - thus meeting all of the above criteria and yet - not being what is truly sought after here.

I think it should be clearly stated that the material in question must be purchasable (if questioned) by someone at a "local" retail outlet store - preferably a nationwide chain (ie walmart, best buy, etc) but it must be in a storefront somewhere.

I think the over all understanding would be there. If you try and bend the rules you will. Nationaly recording artist is just that. And any alteration to that music would be deemed illegal. We can write in rule after rule after rule. But some people will still try and find ways around them. National Retailer would not be hard though. For the most part this would be compeitor reinforced. as usaci can not possibly check and verify every cd out there. We have to be up standing and trustworthy.

J/K - I understand the meaning of the rules - just was saying that the arguement COULD be made. I wont make it - I rock out with my different NWA tracks and so forth - but still - it COULD be made.

i vote 4 an official USACI disc ,
even one currently available maybe, made available for sale at any USACI event and provided as a loner disc to competitors during their run .
get something together very VERY soon USACI as the season has already started .a mid year change IMO causes plenty of curve balls and animosity towards the organization and the sport .

A official SB cd sounds good, but when will it be available. How can people build their sustem and test it without having the cd. One should be available soon, If not then next season (just like Bruce said). SPL have a cd to test and tune; SB doesn't.

I'm not so sure that we shouldn't sort of revert back to the old days. (I know, at my age, I'm an authority on old days.) What about the "Flashdance" theory? Instead of waiting for USACi to have a CD built specifically for Street Beat, let the USACi brain trust, possibly in cahoots with someone with some expertise in the music field, just select a song and everyone just goes out and buys it or borrows it from the judge.

Obviously the selection of the song would be somewhat critical, which is why I didn't suggest that competitors be a part of the song selection process. Again, back to the old days ... world records and SQ SPL was done playing Flashdance. I can't think of a reson why all Street Beat competitors can't compete, all using the same song.

Your forgetting that not all rides handle one freq.
Will USAC make a cd for street beat with all tones?

I am sure a CD would be made that had more then one track with different freq for each track. This would be the best for all types of vehicles and systems.

I don't think one track would work for all to use, due to then it would come down to everyone having the same type of vehicle after that vehicle is found for the freq of the single track.

Thats one of the main reasons why I first wanted to do this class but having to watch and see the scores people were doing and what they were using to do with it ( a SPL burp car that can do it for 30 secs) I had to do the same for me to be competitve but now If the rules dont change where it has to be a Legit Music CD then Im just going to sell my crx and not worry about competiting as much and just have me a low tuned vehicle to show at the usaci shows.
