is it true that the older mid 80`s astro are louder then the newer style ones? and why? and has anybody built one or test this?

That applies more to Drag because of the dash. I believe the years 86-95.
Mine was a 95 and if you remember, my numbers were sub par because of the shallow footwell (the blower was in the way).
96 and above (like Kumar's) don't have the blower in that area.
Now on the glass because of the flat shallow surface area of the dash, my number was way better then in the kick.

so for drag the older was better and for usaci the newer ones would be better

I would say so. Maybe some of the other guys can chime in.

BTW, if you look historically at the Astro in drag, most of the champions ran the older models.

ya i got it for almost that much but put in lots to get it running right

Still got that pair of brand new rebuilt fully loaded BTLs for 7. Doubt if you're gonna find anything better then this but I could be wrong.

UMMM.......pretty much all those can be had new and used for 350 or less for some. probly more i left off the list . and he runs SD amps, could he catch a deal on mach 5 ?

All quality subs yes and If he can find some on that list for less then $350, by all means he should jump on them if he trust the seller.
I still think the BTLs would be his best bet since that is what the previous owner had in there.

4 of those woofers can be had from the manufacture brand new if you can get in tight with comp pricing .. im very sure of it... are we talking about the extreme van or a mod van? if its the extreme van.. the that list gets a little smaller IMO. lose the mt..wdx..deathpenalty and BTL..

no the subs are for the extreme i got a god deal for MT`s can`t beat it and no i don`t have time to spend on this van i just need to get rid of the 97 i was going to do IA 21`s wardens in it but got the extreme instead so i scraped the project

but this van is still around so who knows what i will do with it if no one buys it look out mod 2-4

4 21`s in the 97 van and i am working on 4 RE MT`s for the extreme with Fi recones for them i hope to have them in there before the last show this month

i think the FS is to low on that stuff. but... you need to get those MT done with 5 hards for the van..
