how much power from a amp?

I know there is a way to use a fluke meter on ac voltage to see how much wattage you are actualy getting out of a amp but how exactly do you do it?

you also need a clamp meter to get your ac current. then multiply. P=IV

I'm interested in this as well. How do u measure the wattage?

This is a PDF posted on the Concept Car Audio website that describes using a multimeter to measure wattage. There is another PDF on there talking about how to convert it to dB's but its not exactly 'accurate'.

we do it with a load on the amplifier........................connect multimeter to positive and negative speaker leads set to ACVoltage.......clamp clamp meter around positive speaker lead set to AC current read numbers simultaneously or set peak hold on meters get ya close enough.......... Multiply the two numbers and ya got power......divide Voltage by current and ya got Impedance rise.

Funny how concepts website is fairly inaccurate in its statement of power calculation. I thought I made a pretty detailed post on this a while back but can't seem to find it. If I get time later I'll go into some detail for you guys.

I was awaiting an EE guy to chime in and tell us how wrong this was lol.
