| Anyone know how do you calculate impedance rise? I keep reading about it. Like to know. | |

| i always get it backwards AC voltage divided by AC current or vise versa........calculating power is multiplying the two | |

| im sorry timmy but that isnt correct....power is volt x amps
and imp. rise is defined by....The formula for calculating the impedance of an inductor is 1/jwL where j is the imaginary number(normally "i" in non electrical mathematics), w is the greek letter omega which is frequency in radians per second, and L is the inductance measured in Henries. You will see in most T/S parameters that the inductance of the coil is listed. To convert frequency in cycles/second (50,60 hz etc.) use this relation:
w=2(pi)f where f is your frequency in hertz and "pi" is the constant typically approximated by 3.14.
Also part of the reason we have impedance rise is because of the heat as some of the other guys mentioned.
I believe motor force can also play a part. It resists movement of the coil. If you learn Lorentz Law you will learn that a current through a wire in a magnetic field generates a force. This law will tell you which direction the force is and it is dependent on the direction of the magnetic field. It is because of this law that we have the movement of the woofer. The stronger the magnetic field the harder it is to set the object in motion as the field resists movement.

| I am really lost here. I have 2 15 sub with 2 mmats 3500. I want to know what ohms my amp is actually seeing. They are wired 1 ohms each amp. I need to know how to calculate the impedance rise. I want max output from my amplifier. | |

| Alright what amps .05 or .1s???? you need a Clamp meter and a multi meter........put your multimeter on AC voltage poke each speaker wire pos and neg.....then clamp the Clamp around the Positive speaker wire set to AC amps.........you can turn the volume up and watch each meter simultaneously remember the two numbers you divide Voltage by amps....which will give you Imp rise.....i just put it all on Peak hold and go with it get ya close enough but usually isnt EXACT....i dotn really check power too often just keep track of rise to get most power.........and if you have 1 ohm amps and your wired at 1ohm then your prolly not gettin full power its probably rising to around 3 3.5 or so id guess....probably need to be wired lower | |

| I'm not sure on this process either and would like to know the same,I run my amps strapped at 0.5 ohm each and wondered if theyre capable of going lower, knowing rise would answer this. | |

This is correct. Box design is important also.

| That is the Reason why we break and make so may boxes to get the right one. The right woofer/box combo tailored to the sweetspot of the amps yield best results. You can also use impadence rise to tune your box. Basically it is a ratio of voltage to current. Follow Tim direction and you are on your way to a good start. | |

| its not the correct way but can be used to figure out the best way for you to figure out how to munipulate the design to what you need all you have to is get a good starting point see a change and keep going. Yeah its not the way the guys in the stone building do it but it is a way for you not paying for an education in EE to do it yourself my way
acv/aca=imp rise thats my way

| Impedance, Z = V/I Resistance, R = V/I V = voltage in volts (V) I = current in amps (A) Z = impedance in ohms () R = resistance in ohms () | |
