Best headunit for SPL

I'm in need of a new HU, my $129 pioneer that I've been using since 2006 is going out.

Something about riding around in the bed of a pickup or bouncing around in a crx tire well and collecting dust for over 6 years has it not always reading tracks, and sometimes I have to hold the wire harness at a certain angle to make power stay on.

Anyways, you would think a guy with a record like mine would already know what to look for, but I don't. I've just been using entry level, with probably 2v or less all this time and just cranking the bass boost for all the years. +12db on the bass boost has to be good right?

Does that mean with out the bass boost I'm only at a 150 in 0-600?

Anyways, back on topic, what should I look for in an SPL headunit. I also have a Maxlink to use along with it.

Would like to spend as little as possible, but I know ya get what ya pay for, so maybe under $350?

I dunno last one was $129 and it worked just fine lol.

everybody says the eclipse 8v deadhead but idk for sure or not if its better thats alot of voltage hoping to test with 1 against some other decks soon i heard from a good source that the alpine 2v preouts were louder then the eclipse in their car but who knows if that was the amps not liking higher voltage or what i guess it depends what the amps like. i know most drag guys swear by the alpine 9886. just too damn many is the problem!!lol

I have that 12 volt fosgate deck from chilli. I paid $350

I got a old 8v Eclipse 5303 deadhead i'd let go of...but it needs a wire harness

5 volt RF deck or the Sony CDX C90

I use the Alpine CDE-100 and it works like a charm. $99.00 radio..

Old school Rockford hands down. I can see if I can dig up another. I have my last one but not willing to part with it.
