| Could it be possible that a lot of people actually loved the Audiocontrol???
Just looked back, 0-150 was gone after 2003. Probably some other classes as well.

| 2003 was my first finals, i managed to get 2nd in stock 301-600 and prostock 0-1000 using cadence a7's. I remember the VFL 150 came out that fall and even though there were only about 12 of these amps at finals, somehow they ran through the lanes in almost half the cars lol,
In the lanes, run, outta the lanes, take em out, put em in the next car run, repeat, repeat.
Same thing with a few boxes as well, lol. Wasn't really a rule about it back then.
I think it may have been the first yr of amp limits, but batts were unlimited, 18v in both super and prostock. I know stock was 12v and was limited to 1 or 2 batts.
After all this I still managed to get 2nd in super stock and prostock running 2 yellow top batts and I had all the panels in the crx.
But yes it was a good year, the should have thought of time slots nack then lol |

| sq was more like over 100
loud and clears booth was always a hit there also they rented a uhaul and moved the entire store to there finals booth lol
i was actually beaten due to the amps being taken from a certain car, and dropped in an s10 over my 2001 eclipse lol. I should have been closer but because someone touched my fender while i was running they dq'd me for that oh well.
fyi my eclipse was only .8 off the sdime hehe

- The sport is just too expensive for the basic consumer. When you have 0-600 stock doing 161, thats gotta tell you right there. Classes as far as power goes need to be smaller so the smaller amps can play in the lanes. Dealers sell more smaller 300 watt amps than the RD Audio D5. But WTF do I know, I have never owned a shop or worked for any companies. We need to help the dealers out as they are what gets new blood to the sport. end rant.
Thats one reason we started Classic out of hand cost look at drag you think it cost cash here lol i mean who are these people forking out $$$$ for eight 15K+ amps ???

| the amp isnt the reason the knowledge and level of the competitor is everything
i seen someone only gain what .6 off of switching from a 6 year old amp to the d5 man
if you want it you will learn how to get it if you dont want it you will sit and \"Female dog\" about amplifiers

I been down here trying to get people excited about it and wanting to compete, so far i got 3-4 guys who have never comp'd before wanting to do something next season, but our local shop support is piss poor, 5-10 shops and all of them say SPL is dead and pointless. I do hope however that next year we see more shows in our state, maybe something will happen :/ I do agree maybe it would help if we had a smaller class again, i think a 0-150 would be fun, and bring out some old usa-hc100's, memphis ar-hc100's, orion and kicker 1/2 ohm stereo amps. - Just curious what kinda numbers would show up in that low power class.

There were 188 sq entries in 99 when I started. It didn't drop off till a few years later. I remember cars were so packed in, it took over an hour just to get moving out of bartle hall

| That is back when I used to compete and go to finals. Was great shows and a ton of fun. When the funding for concerts and things like that fell through a good deal of foot traffic fell off as well. It was a big decline all at once with lack of competitors supporting the event, lack of foot traffic, and lack of vendors.
I would love to see finals like it used to be. I think generating that kind of "vibe" would bring back some of the industry support. Personally for me I stopped competing the year before the concerts stopped. I was there for the powerman concert, but after that I have not been to finals. I went this past one and was very disappointed in what I saw.
I'm guessing with the industry in the situation it is in now and the economic down turn we should be happy we even have a finals.

| Bottom line is money. 61 in stock 0-6 is freakin awesome, but I am POSITIVE that many, many people (including myself) see that score and say, "what's the point of trying to catch that?" And stock 0-6 is the "entry level" class. Yeah right.
The whole point of my build this year (besides being a lame, cheap arse) was to prove (or disprove, however you want to look at it), that you don't have to spend a ton to get loud, but the divide between "loud" and "competitive" is retarded.
The best are going to win. Period. It doesn't matter how you change or mix up power classes or add rules or restrictions or whatever. Although, smaller power classes would definitely help get more people in the lanes.
I know it was just an off-the-cuff remark, but as soon as Ralph mentioned something about a 0-300w class, my brain went to work on what amp I need. Lol. I'd love to see some smaller power classes, because honestly, I actually have disposable income for this BS and I'm not wasting it chasing Chad or Darren. I'll never catch them. And shooting for 3rd every year gets old quick considering how expenive it all is.
Does RD make a D3? Sign me up.
One other small observation and then I'll shut the hell up... the 4 ohm rating used to be a great idea, but it's getting outdated. I know there has to be some way to do the classes, but our rating system excludes about 99.9% of car audio companies. And we wonder why there isn't more manufacturer support?

| I used to run the 0-300 class, and it was fun, because at that time you was allowed (2) amps in that class, but i only had one, Memphis HC100, but could not for the life of me find a second one to run, they were basically non existent at the time. Yes, a smaller power class does sound enticing, and maybe to a fresh newbie, they would think, hey! i can afford to be in that class.. but even if we had a very small power class again like 0-150 - it wouldn't be a month before someone is churning out a 153 in that class or higher (can't remember what the record was in that class). I DO think that an idea has to be created for a novice class again, a method in which we can actually verify that the competitor is a newb, but that has been discussed numerous times and still has no solution. I say this because i have a handful of friends that want to compete and every time we go to a show, scrapin, chillaxin, they bring their $money$ to run, but soon as they get there they see some guy popping off 150+ in the stock 0-6 and they just change their minds because they know they are just wasting their money. | |
