Same here. I have a personal goal I'm trying to reach. It may not be the best for numbers but I can still compete with it.

- realy, it sucks that the battery limit has changetd twice in as many years. i just got done meeting the last requirements to run. sold my batteries as the new rules made them obsolite. now once again, i coulda got 14 volt batteries. anyone need 8 12 volt batteries? seems to me the battery companies are the real winners. IM SICK OF BUYING fornicating BATTERIES TO KEEP UP WITH THESE fornicating RULES
I did not interpret the new rules as letting stock classes use 14 volt batts, i just figured your alternator could charge that 15.5, maybe we need clarification on this.

| A 12 volt battery is defined as a battery that has a nominal terminal voltage of 12-Volts, consists of 6 internal series-connected cells, and is lead/acid or gel-type. (per the rules page)
I wouldn't go out and by 14v batteries unless you want to end up running ss or sb5.

| As you guys mentioned earlier, will car electronics run on 15.5 Volts?
Rule-of-thumb I've always heard: most electronics will run safely on 20% higher voltage. If you check, that's 14.4 V... so 14.7 is an appropriate maximum.
If some alternators charge at 15.5, so be it... but recognize that it's a non-traditional system and regulate it down. Simply opening the voltage up is easy for the rulemakers... but worse for the competitors and the safety of our vehicles/batteries.

Simply opening the voltage up is easy for the rulemakers... but worse for the competitors and the safety of our vehicles/batteries. This really depends on the vehicle. For instance, many fords and chevys run fine on a 14v setup without stepdowns. Thats roughly 15.8-16.8v daily. My truck has seen 15.8-16v before without issues. However, some vehicles ECU's limit how much voltage it will allow the alt to make. This is most common with newer foreign vehicles.

| also this kinda maxes out 12v i mean there is no way a 12v system is charging over 15.5 if its stock with a 12v system now if you have 14v batts im sure thats a different story so i think its ok it really does cap off 12v at its max!!! | |

| so i just spoke to ralph , you can wait untill he posts or adds to rules , his intent was not to change the 12v batt rule , his intent was to raise the max voltage because of some cars chargeing higher than 14.7 . he is not allowing 14 volt batts , after some thought he is going to say at rest may not be higher than 13.5 or something simalar , he is thinking that as a 14volt batt will rest higher than 14 + , i agree and most will also. so dont go selling your 12 vpolt yet , so padre/finals should not change from current rules just allowing cars that charge higher to still play . not changeing to 14 volt batts.... i prfer to call the source rather than make two pages of .................... | |

I'm gonna stay out of this one, but some of the newer vehicles.............. EXACTLY why we did it because some of the newer vehicles that are coming out or out already (Maybe I should of said, Darville and Ralph were talking and Darville said that his new truck was 15.7 stock...and walla 15.5 was born) |
