| Currently, the rules define: 1 pt = 8" 2 pts = 10" 4 pts = 12" 8 pts = 15" 16 pts = 18"
What does a 21" woofer qualify as? The obvious trend would say 32 points... but there's no class for that, just SB4 (open).
In terms of usable cone area, a 21" woofer has the equivalent of 5 10" woofers, which is 10 points, and well within SB3's points limitation.
random thought: While people are considering the rules, I crunched some quick numbers A 12 has the effective cone area of ~1.5 10's... not 2 10's. A 15 has the effective cone area of ~2.5 10's... not 4 10's. An 18 has the effective cone area of ~3.5 10's... not 8 10's.
We see a few high-end 15's, but very few 18's in the SB lanes... hmmm. Alot of daily driver SUVs are 15's and 18's though. | |

| im pretty sure its not a set cone area it is a range between x and x cone area you are in this class! as for a 21 if the 18 is 16 im sure it would be so high there is no point in putting it there! its sb4 no matter what! | |

| Thanks for the clarification ShowB! Skillfully striking down any and all who attempt to soil rules. I'm in it for the fun, so open class is perfect. Have fun this weekend! Should be huge, if the snow stays away. We've had some weird weather this week. | |

| HA! More than a few reasons. You know, if DD stuffed a 6" coil on $5000 of neodymium. That would be a real SB champ I chuckle, but I'd bet you know a few people who would actually buy one, if it existed. | |
