What did I learn at my first finals.....

I was asked this question by a seasoned competitor.....my answer: that rules can and will be bent.

I guess at the most important competition of the year anything flies....

rules are not flexible with d& dr&g . it is what it is. its always great to learn !

yea really lol....This was my first finals also and I really enjoyed it even though it wasn't close to what people say finals usually is

the rules were realllly pushed this year... enuff stink about it will have to change things or more will drop... hopefully the right decisions are made

i dunno why anyone is going to run sb this year. buttler is just going to add this to his list of 1000000 classes to win lol with the new rules and all .. hes ogt almost 20db to sacrafice in finding a song and making it play for 30 sec.. i think hes got it

His car can bass race 178, but there is kind of a silent agreement among extreme guys so they don't run music classes.

Yep.
If the 'rules' used at finals stand for 2011, Butler will clean up w/ 15dB+ over 2nd place.
So Ralph. Ask yourself, do you want Super-Mod in SB????

I asked you directly at finals. Can I do this to my van and remain legal in SB.
Can I build a pocket? Can I build a console? Can I glass the dash?

I'd agree with new rules if I understood it well, music over 160dB is very bad for the car, lot's of competitors are building for db drag bass race 59.9 class for instance, and they will eventually put wood on doors and roof, but keeping it street drivable.

Exactly, my van starting falling apart at 160dB daily. But, when I ripped the roof I called multiple judges to OK the repairs. We did brace the roof w/ metal a little, but made dam sure it was BEHIND the b-pillar. Door panels are bone stock. Roof liner, stock, floor covering stock, dash, stock, glass, stock. Just enough deadening to keep it from ripping to easily.

I know me and rowland drove vehicles to finals. Not sure on what he has done in his amazing vehicle, but I never touched the b-pillar forward (other than bending doghouse mount metal to keep it popping loose at 155+).

Give me rules. I will build within them.
Until then....anything goes.

If you read the rules, they pretty much say anything goes anyways. Limits only being subs,amps,batts

Yep and when somebody builds in front of the b pillar they will change them on the fly depending who is bending them.

I mentioned bringing one of my old supermods several years ago, and was told by a bunch of judges on here that it wouldn't be allowed.....maybe I should go dig my old van out of the scrapyard......hmmmm

this was included in the rule bending. Amps were used in classes they shouldn't have been allowed in. Ralph said it himself but went against his statement....many times.

haha yes sir. Its time those amps were officially made unlimited or given the correct rating.

And there were only 50 made so the amps are not commercially available is what came out of Ralph's own mouth and should be in unlimited class
