box help !!

Ok I'm building a box for a friend. Um trying to find out If I can build a ported box for a shallow mount sub or leave it sealed like the spects say.. Poking to get bout 40hz with this new box. Lmk

Whose shallow sub is it? More info would help. What sub, what vehicle, whatever else you can tell us.

Sorry its the pioneer premier ts-sw1241d.. 12" its going in a 2003 F250 crew can behind the rear seat.

According to Pioneer, their shallow mount subs DO work ported. From my experience with their "air suspension" subs, they have weird unloading issues with high tuning. Only use this sub for daily bumping, unless you're willing to sacrifice a ton of sound quality and range.

Pioneer recommends 0.8 cf, though their recommendations are usually on the small side. I'd go 1.0 cf internal volume.

Pioneer recommends 42-45 Hz box tuning... which is OK, but I'd stick to 42 Hz for that sub.

if it were me:
1.0 cf IV, with a 4" round port, 16" long. sub front, port side.
