Yes, gates opened for the October 4th Import Face-Off at 9:30am and the car show did happen with 135 entries and full trophy plus cash payouts. However, the cashiers stopped charging entry at 12:30 when the drag racing was officially canceled due to inclement weather. As announced countless times throughout the day over the PA, the blue IFO arm bands (no. 49k - 50k) are good for 100% FREE entry into any future IFO, even though the car show DID happen that day. This is standard policy with IFO and every single drag strip across the country, absolutely no exceptions. Why you never heard the announcement is beyond me. Everyone else heard, knows, and understands the policy with no complaints. This is definitely not the first time an IFO has rained out. There are IFOs all over the country, every other weekend. There are local IFOs in South Louisiana twice a year, EVERY year. The next two in South Louisiana are on February 28th at No Problem Raceway and October 3rd at State Capitol Raceway. Even though the car show did happen that day and was completed with full payouts, AGAIN, arms bands will be honored for 100% FREE entry into the next event. You should have no problem with this policy.
Yes, IFO charges admission to get inside. IFO is a car show/drag racing series with events held at multi-million dollar drag racing facilities. Payouts for the series total over $140k in trophies/cash a year. It is not some free parking lot meet. Rain or shine, each event costs several thousands of dollars to produce (track rental, insurance, staff, trophies, advertising, etc.)
USACI WAS AT THE EVENT, just as advertised, but the Usaci rep did not host the competition, apprently due to the weather or because of finals?
