STOLEN CRX

so this morning i'm leaving for work and i go out and look to my left and see a crx sitting at the intersection from head on, no big deal i see crx's in my neighborhood from time to time. so i check it out and when it turns, i think, hey those wheels look like my wheels, and hey that crx has a red sticker on the back window like my crx, so i look right and sure enough the parking slot my crx was parked in was empty. so i take off and jump in my truck to try and catch up. it had about a 5 block head start by the time i get in my truck and out of the parking lot, i couldnt even see it but knew what direction it was heading, well to shorten up the story a bit, about 20 blocks later, 1 red light ran, 4 cars passed on a two lane street, going about 65 in a 35 at times, they turn into a residental, they still have a few blocks on me and at this time i figure out the nissan pathfinder behind them is probably with them since it's been behind my crx the whole time. so i almost lose them in residential, but luckily i went exactly where i needed to and finally found them i stayed a block away when they parked and a person got out of my car and into the pathfinder leaving my car behind, so now i try to follow the pathfinder cause its a long block away in a neighborhood with lots of trees and hills, so it's hard to keep your eyes on them, this whole time i'm on the phone with the cops, problem is i'm now in a differant county the where i started, so the dispatcher i'm talking to can't do much to help me, so after some more crazy driving i catch up to the pathfinder, now they know someone is on there ass as they were cluless up to this point. so they take off and about a block later i'm about 10 ft off there bumper going about 50 and they slam on the brakes and so do i, i dont know how i didnt hit them, i must of came to a stop about 3" or less away from them, they take off again

at this point i have the plate and the dispatcher tells me to stop following them and go back to my car and wait for the cops so i do. i would suggest though that if you are following someone that stole your car, do not stop following them even if you have the plate #. probably could be dangerous to follow, try to do it from a safe distance and dont let them know your following them.

so i quit following them and go back to my car. cop finally gets there like 25 min later. remember i went into a defferant county so they had to call those guys to send them out, so we are sitting there at my car filling out the report and the dispatcher comes over the radio saying the pathfinder is also stolen out of lincoln, so now we are shit out of luck, we have a recoverd car with a broken ignition, and now a blown motor, the car still ran, but needed an oil pump, now the motor is probably totoally taosted as it was smoking bad and has a puddle of oil under it.

so anyways were filling out the police report, were shit out of luck because the get away vehicle was stolen and nobody knows who they are, its about 45 min later, so theres me, my crx, my truck, a big white cop car that has big writing on the side that says POLICE and lights on top of it and guess what happens, the nissan pathfinder goes slowly rolling by at about 3 mph and 20 ft in front of us at the intersection. so the cop jumps into his car and takes off after them.

they ditch the pathfinder 2 blocks later, one guy runs, the other just starts walking down the sidewalk so the cop goes for the easy target. the cop asks him what he is doing and he gives him a BS story and the cop says i know your lying, i saw you get out of the pathfinder, were you in this red crx, and the guys say yes, so they arrest him and he has meth on him etc.

i never was actually close enough to id them, just could tell he had long blondish hair etc, all i could see was through the back window of the nissan, so they wont bring the guy back over to ID him, and they will not finger print my car because its not "stolen" anymore, its "recovered" well bellevue wants to fingerprint it, but they wont drive 4 blocks over the county line to do it, i see them in douglas county all the time doing whatever they are doing, but they wont come 4 blocks over the county line to finger print the prints on my door from the guy closing it. they are really good prints too, so now the cops and i know this is the guy who did it, he admitted it, but they wont print it to give it the 100% sure thing. but they are going to send someone to the impound lot to print it. the impound lot is in douglas county so either way they have to cross the line, but now probably about 3-4 more people will touch the car from towing it to the impund lot, great

so thats where i sit, the cops said i probably wont get any money out of the thieves either because he is a meth head, and didnt look like he had anything to give anyway. so thats where i sit, crx, broken ignition, blown motor, at the impound lot, so thats gotta be $$$ just to get it back too. and i probably wont get anything back to fix it.

WOW. That bites. Your lucky tho that you saw the car and were able to follow as much as you did and get one guy put behind bars.
Sorry tho about the ignition and motor. Maybe your insurance will cover it or ? Really tho if you look at the plus side, they didn't completely get your car and cut it up or anything.

wow! When our car was broken into here in des moines The CRX was sitting next to it just a few hours prior fully loaded! good thing I put it away! They still ot off with equipment and now I have to keep both cars locked in garages to even feel partly safe.

If you need to change motors let me know andc I can come out and help ya, I know where there are a few factory motors sitting

dude that is messed up man sorry to hear that, just reading this i started to feel how pissed off u must have been seeing some idot in your car that isn't suppose to be. hope you get the car back and get a new engine maybe it was a blessing in desguise you never know man just keep your head up and pray for the best sorry to hear you that it was almost stolen though.

What is wrong with people!!!!!!!Dude just be thankfull that they didn't have a gun or something really just be thankfull you didn't have one!!!!I know i would have probally used it!!!!! ohh yeah, for those that dont know i have 2 crx's this one was empty and i just use it from time to time when i need a part i dont have right away, so the comp car is good to go under super secret lock down

the cops still havent released the car yet, probably so they can charge me $20 a day

i'll sue for whatever, but who knows if the guy will ever be able to pay it, unfortunatley it'll probably be a waste of time and money on my part

Since it is evidence, I don't think they can charge you for impound fees. I'm not 100% on that. You may call them and see. G/L and in the end I am sure it will be worth fixing again.
