| I saw in the SB rules it says commercially available music, but no burned CD's. What about iPods and other MP3 players? I don't even buy cd's anymore, all the music I want is available on iTunes or somewhere similar. Anyone know if iPods are acceptable? | |

either that or USACi needs to update the rules to keep up with the times and allow MP3 players.

| I guess thats possible, I've yet to see those problems in Bass Race, and they allow iPods and burned cd's, since millions of people download music and don't buy actual cd's. If someone can just add tones to music and download them to an iPod then they should be able to do the same thing with a regular music cd too, so either way it can be done if someone wanted to cheat. | |

| It is stupid to try cheating like that, but wherever there's competition there will alway be someone trying to get around the rules and cheat in order to win. I don't see how someone can really feel like a winner if they cheated to get there. | |

| After carefully reading the rule on music I've come to the conclusion that iPods and MP3 player CAN be used in competitions. The only thing the rule states is that "Burned CD's" can't be used. There is NO mention at all about iPods or MP3 players.
4. Only commercially available music may be used for judging (no burned cd’s). Only music may be played. Music must contain a discernable bass beat or rhythm. Music with intentionally extended bass tones will not be allowed. This will be at the discretion of the head judge.

| I was thinking about that, but after talking to a few competitors at a show last weekend we all came to the same conclusion, they ARE allowed. If Ralph didn't want them allowed he would have put that in the rules, which he didn't. And he also added the part about being at the discretion of the head judge, so if the head judge says it's ok then it's good, if he says no then thats it, for that show. Ralph made these rules, we didn't. | |

[/u] Ipods in cars were not common place then like they are now when the rules were made. I don't see why anyone wants to make such a fuss over using an ipod. Buying a CD to play is the same as buying an amp or speaker, You gotta pay to play.

| Thats why rules get revisions and changes, to keep up with the technology and the majority. It won't be long before cd's are all but extinct, what would SB do then? | |
