| Is there any negative effects for resin inside box? Is it possible for a box sometimes to be louder without it? | |

| yes and yes lol
it helps some box's due to the fact you sand it down many times after resin, then resin again then sand then resin then sand. then by the time your done airflow is alot better in the box due to it being as slick as glass.

| if you have never done it before a couple of tips is to make sure you mix in enough hardner so it hardens all the way but not to much that it hardens to fast(i think this could cause it to crack) and wear gloves.... latex gloves... | |

| the biggested reason resin works...is because wood is VERY pourous. so in this resin or something else we found to be better, all it does is seals up the box...chris used to work for a counter top manufactor back in the day and they used a huge vac to suck thru 5 pieces of mdf....so this shows how pourous it really is...smoothness also helps...but there are a few things that resin will hurt ya...has to do with imp rise..but thats for another day | |

| It is easier to resin one side at a time then all of it, sand, resin, sand, resin, sand, resin, sand ...
I get a perfect glass finish every time!

| never really done it but sanding an resining over an over does help, kinda like painting cars. if you want a smooth like finish you have to put in the work lol. oh an foam brushes or rollers, i prefer rollers cause its faster than the brushes but you be the judge of what you wanna use. | |

| A 2 part epoxy works well also. turn the finished box to each side to be done. make the mixture -- pour the mixture on the surface it will self level. Once dried it is just like glass. turn box and repeat process. mix enough to cover each side atleast 1/8th inch thick. no sanding . | |

| Sherwin Williams has the 2-part epoxy. They also have swimming pool paint that is also a 2 part epoxy. The first I stated is clear and has to be done 1 side at a time because you pour it and it self levels. The 2nd ( swimming pool paint) you can brush a couple of coat's on it. (24 hours between coats). u want to kinda scuff up the surface a little first. p.s throw away the brush afterwards--not worth cleaning -lol | |

I called a counter shop and talked to them... They sent me to a place in town that has resin that cure at different times. I found that for what we do it don't matter so I always get the pore offs from them. Its like $40 for 5 gallons but you have to get the hardener that only comes in a 1 gallon size... all around great stuff wayyyy batter than Home Depot stuff

| I use the stuff from Select Products. They also have the MEKP dispencers ( gives a perfect mix every time, great for when mixing a lot, & keep things consistant).
I also sometimes mix bondo with resin to help with build properties... self leveling also....hit with finer sand paper, high build primer, paint, clear coat wet sand.
I had 1 box that didn't get louder, but it didn't get quieter...just changed my note a little. It was a wall in an s-10 blazer for 4 12's, it did better when allowed to flex, than when I braced it all up. the resin & paint just changed how it flexed. Other than that anomally, everything has gotten louder...just some more than others...some a .1 others quite a bit

| The resin you get at a boat shop is tooling resin which is easier to work with build cool stuff you know the corvette, easier to sand like butter biatches, you can also get the regular resin which takes foever to dry but we here at the h town mafia shop use tooling resin for all purposes | |
