| Hello all. I just recently fell off my rocker and invested in what I hope will be a sweet sound system for my truck.
I was searching for info on some of the components I have chose to install and found this site. I decided to join and see if there are any upcoming sound competitions/shows and also want some opionions from you all to see if I even stand a chance in entering one of them.
I know nothing about the competition or classes so hopefully I will have a shot.
Please lend me your opinion where I stand and how I may go about getting into some sort of competition/show.
Let me list what I will soon have delivered to me in the next few days: System: Kenwood DNX8120 Speakers: Focal 165KRX3 (front) Speakers: Focal 165 KRC (rear) Subs: JL 10W01V24 (rear) Amp: 300/4v2 Amp: 250/1v2
I really went for sound quality. I don't know if these competitions are strictly for sound level or if they also have some quality entries. But this sytem is being installed in a 2005 Ram. The subs by the way are being installed with custome fiberglass boxes in the rear storage wells. I was told to go with these smaller more efficient subs due to the lack of air space I have back there.
I wish I had found this site prior to trusting in the opinion of the shop that's installing them.
Regardless, please give me your opinion as to what I should expect and where I may be able to find some shows with upgraded systems.
Sincerely, Mike | |

| By the way I wrapped the WHOLE cab with the Xtreme Dynamat. Top to bottom and front to back. I sure hope this stuff is worth the money. | |

| The mat is worth it. Shows also consist of sound quality as well as spl. Just have to find one in your area, or close enough to you, to drive to. The schedule can be found on the main website. http://www.soundoff.org/usaci.htm | |

| There isn't going to be any real SQ shows in your area at all. If that is something you are interested be prepared to drive.
Also, the DNX8120 is a good nav piece. Very popular, but lacks in SQ features. That goes the same for pretty much every nav unit though. I would consider running an additional SQ head unit.
When you did the dynamat did you put a single layer or dual layers out of curiousity?
Good luck out there! | |

| I only did a single layer of the extreme. I did some more reading last night and it suggested doing multiple layers but it's too late for now. The last pair of speakers are going in tomorrow and I will be picking it up tomorrow at 5pm!!!
If you really feel it's worth doing a second layer on the floor I have a little time before my new carpet comes in tomorrow.
Let me know. I'm guessing that was a loaded question. The site for Dynamat suggested doing a Cool layer (or something like that)
I'm sorry to hear that I won't find a show in Denver. But thanks for the show you put on in your pic!
Go Canada... | |
