| One of my AB 3000's at turn on makes a kind of skreech noise then goes straight to protect. I disconnected the rca's, speaker wires, still goes under protect. Could it be the output ? Yesterday I was testing and it worked for a couple of minutes still with a bad distortion then it went protection. I used the amp last week, it went protection a couple of times but worked shortly after, still with a distortion. I disconnected the speaker wires and changed rca's. Still protection. Any advice is appreciated. I had a .7 ohm load on it at 16 volts if that helps any. The amp can take 17 volts rite ? I'm in Louisiana if anyone knows a good repair shop near me. | |

| try a differant deck, and rca's
changing rca's eleimintaes one issue, but the deck is still there or you could just try a differant amp to see how it reacts | |

| It would be cheaper to repair it for what it is doing right now then to wait. I would not run the amp any longer. | |

| Thank's for all the info. yes I hooked up my other AB and it worked fine,so I figured it must be the amp. I did pull it out and found a shop in New Iberia this morning. He said he would call Fri. morning so I can pick it up. Hope so. would like to make the comp. in Prarieville this weekend. Again thanks everyone for the info. I'm running 17 volt's on them at .7 ohms-- they can handle that rite ? | |

| Yes Bill is short on word's but his work is outstanding! If you have any build question's ask him for his thoughts, His word is the truth. Has he built you any Box's? I've had a few and recommended others to him. He has customers stretching as far as Lake Charles going to New Iberia for him. I may go to PraireVille this sat, I sold my Cadillac so no comp vehicle but I may go in the 72 Olds to chase tail. | |

| Well got a bad news phone call today. Bill called me and said that the pre-amp is gone on the AB3000. He said the whole board would have to be changed . that sucks. guess gonna have to find another amp. The AB's rating's was'nt good as far as power classes but would of been nice to sell it. O well But what seem's weird is that I dropped off 4 other amp's and he said that was the problem with them also | |

| So Gabe is he correct that the whole board would have to be changed ? or is it hard to say without looking at it ? | |

| It is hard to say without looking at it really. Most of the time it is one or a couple of capitors that go that cause that. Occasionally there is more to it, and a board MIGHT need to be replaced ... BUT I really doubt that. | |
