| I've gotten the point that I almost want to quit outlaw spl all together cause I just cant seem to get the numbers that either I was promised or hoped for. I drive an 02 Xterra with a ported box. that contains 2 jl w7's I know I have a decent system I just can't stand seeing numbers that are so low. If there is anyone that could help, please do so. Thanks! | |

| What numbers are you posting ? What type of box and how big is it ? What type of power and connections do you have run ? Just a few questions some will ask. | |

| well my equipment is (2) JL Audio 13W7-D1.5
(2) Crossfire Vr1000D (strapped at a 1.5 Ohm, about 3200 watts)
(1) Alpine CDE-9852 head unit
(1) Stinger SPV70 battery (strapped to my original battery. then of course my new highs and 4-channel amp but that doesn't do anything for bass in regards to this post
the box it self is a built to spec ported box that is 4.75 cu. ft. tuned at 32 Hz.
and as for the numbers. I've hit on term lab a 149.9 in the kick panel and a 167.0 in the port. but that was on term lab...
on audio control at the competitions I'm hitting a dismal 144.4 in my outlaw 600-1800 class
160.5 in port. and a 142.5 in streetbeat
hope this serves any purpose.
and thanks a million to the people reading this and reposting! again its greatly appreciated!
OH! and for cavi_in_kc i was promised an 'easy 150' by my shop. I know the 150 mark is a ridicules goal for such a big car in stock but a 144.4?!?!

| Big three done ? 1/0 wire run to back bat ?
Try different tuneing for comps. Low is good for daily, but high is comp style in most cases. And in those cases they bring the higher numbers.

To get high SPL, it takes alot of trial and error. Also, lots of testing. You have to keep working at it.

| It seems to me your box is tuned for street bass not spl. You might want to try a diff sub for spl. JL W7 is not really a good spl sub. | |

| grantyed my JL W7's arent the best subs for spl. but is there anything that sounds like them. i.e. hitting such looow notes? and excuse me earlier, I got the term lab and the audio control mics backwards...sorry about that.
and also im reading that you guys keep saying test test test and I understand that Im not going to get the numbers I'm looking for without testing... but what kind of testing would you guys say I should do? box builing/tuning?

| I have an '03 Xterra. Before I changed setups, I was at 154.8 in the lanes. Stock 601-1800. 2-15's. With that kind of port number, try increasing port area.
btw, I burp 55hz.
I hit a 150.1 with 1 AB75.1 and 150.3 1 20.1. The box plays a HUGE ROLL in getting loud. You can plug part of a slot port, or 1-2 Aero's to drop your tuning for daily if you want to just use one box.
