| when i have either my 89 or 91 mercury cougar or 86 toronado we put my friends cliff 12's in their with my old rf 500.2 amp and needless to say it shut off every 5 seconds but with the trunk open it was way way louder... this was before we discovered bigger boxes are not always better and louder... | |

| i think the open trunk does help with my setup but like a said i add a new and mean amp. so i think i could of burp a 149 which would put me 3 db higher. cut that in half for each 1.5 the amp and 1.5 the open trunk. still have to play with my setup to find my best score. i will one of these days | |

| opening the trunk will change all the variable...res freq, imp rise. air transfer. I would say that if you open the trunk and get louder that just means you have more work to do with your box, ultimatly you should be louder with your trunk closed. |

| it depends on design of the box......we have tried it firing forward sealed from trunk and it gains 2 db with trunk open nothing else changes imp rise frequency or anything | |

| we tried it awhile back in an alero and it was 2 db louder with trunk open and woofers forward, i think thatd be the only way it'd make a diff i know other ways that were louder tho than firing forward......... | |
