Is it possible for your meter number to be louder on the dash/kick then inside the box itself? or will the box always be louder?

and if thats the case if you build a box/wall and it only mics say a 165/160 then should you just throw it and start over?

yes you would be at a high effc on the box design.
or a leak in the box

so in some sense before you even test a box in your car you could mic it to see how much effective air pressure is coming out and if it not much at all then move to the next? If box mics 160 you know that the car will more than likely not hit 60s

I wouldn't say that is true. I have seen boxes pull 180 out of the port to only have 147 at the kick. Seems like you would have a different peak hz at the box and possibly have 10 more hz at the kick therefore different dbs. Build a box with adjustable ports till you find your loudest freq. Then try to figure what cube your subs like.
