| want to build a T-Line for the GF and cant remember how to do it...
is the formula to calculate the length
wavelength = speed_of_sound / Hz
I think its right because speed of sound is Ft/s and Hz = 1/s so i get Ft as the final dimension but im not sure
then if i want a quarter length, i just divide it by 4. Also, cant remember how big the port area is suppose to be....
HELP!!!!!!
please and thank you | |

| I've built a couple sets of tapered quarter-wave boxes for 3" and 4" drivers. Killer low end, efficiency, and control. You need the right speaker(s) for the job. Which drivers are you using?
The rule of thumb is "Port area = Sd" ... but everything is flexible. Tune to Fs.
Options for reducing space: - taper the port area (reducing or expanding) - adjust the mouth size (mouth < port area can be a good thing) - raise tuning above Fs, and X-over
If you tell me the driver and available space, we might be able to run Horn Response simulations to get you in the ballpark.

| it needs to be as small as it needs to be, its going in a car so... 32inches wide X 16 inches tall X as small as possible. The speakers are ED audio 7k.2s dual 4. waiting on ED to give me the specs on them due to them not being available on the archive folder... lol
fairly certain that the Fs is around 30 Qts is around .3 Qes is around .3 Qms is around 10.5

| To be honest, TL is only appropriate when space isn't an issue. For those 7's (with a Q of 0.3), just toss em in a ported and enjoy some excellent SQ. It's a waste of that glorious motor and suspension to trick up the box too much.
With a Q that low, you can IB or low-tune without much issue. Unless you plan to overpower them, I'd go deep and full rated. People rag on eD, but they're solid until you break em (and need the warranty).
