Thought cook was the only superstreet to break 170? I remember Gman knocking on the door but I never knew it was done. Very impressive van, I remember watching the build thread, he was on the first SS to use a steel cage.

Thats what I was asking is when did this van do it?

| I have found that running my amps on the oscope clean they do not have nearly as much output as when I throw some distortion in the mixand jump up a whole db whats up with that? have you encountered anything like this? maybe just drop the ohms from 1.7to .5 and run clean on the oscope may yeild better results? | |

Thats what I was asking is when did this van do it? you are correct....cook is still the only 170+ SS to date at a show. A few euros got quite close. G-mans ss3-4 astro was always said to be over 170 but I dont even recall him breaking a 169. He was still head and shoulders above the competition in that class though. But the 170 was never done at a show...just rumoured. Just like Perillos van

| Also for those interested in loud SS guys.
Keep an eye on The A Team from Alberta Canada. He recently did a 166.4 in SS1-2 running low power (17k clamped) and a small 12 volt bank with a VERY budget build that he has only had for a year. Id keep an eye on that one. BTW this is the same A Team (Clay) who had the 162+ bassrace jimmy using only 8 subs and the same small 12 volt bank of batts..daily driven. The guy can build!

Nono...totally different clay. From up here in Canada. Lives close to the Riprocks and closeish to Dbdbon. Competes as "A Team Audio" or "The A Team". His last bassrace vehicle was the gold/beige s10 jimmy that set tons of bassrace and psyclone records. He did well over 162 db bassrace using a tiny little truck with 37 cubes total if I remember him correctly. Full wood enclosure, 8 subs, 4 amps, 7 d3100 batts, 12 volt setup. I think at the end he was running (3) 200 amp alts that our buddy built. It wasnt ever agreed that he was the all out loudest bassracer but It would have to be said that the did the most with less. -without using an astro, caravan, panda, bella, terra, carbo van etc -without a sponsorship of any kind -building everything himself personally (he builds some killer killer Dung Pile) -small cone area comparatively speaking with the other loud guys -small power with the other loudest guys around. I discussed with him a few times about switching to an astro for both his build or my build... and the general consensus between us was that we would get a pretty substantial gain from the switch but it wouldnt be worth it to forffit the originality in the build and vehicle itself in a class where we feel like style may not count on the score directly...it does somewhat count in swagga points. I suppose now the world is starting to get a taste for the numbers that could have been done with an astro in place. Similar to after 2007 finals I bought a cheapo CRX for my girlfriend who wanted to compete with the following year (Rusty and Ana inspired 100% hha). Back then multicells had just been disallowed so we through something together and did and the whole install (front batt fitment, runs of wire, "custom" amp rack, built the enclosures, loaded gear) in 4 days. Used the end of the 5th day to do some tuning for the car. About 20 burps total just to get proper box placement, seat placement, note, head unit volume and thats it. Wnt to a show and it managed a 152.0 which was the 4rd loudest street A score all year If I remember correctly. Being an explorer guy I was AMAZED with how easily that score came....and have always considered that idea to an astro for doign a wall. But at the end of the day I still agree with ATeamAudio Clay....Id rather have something different and run my wagon in bassrace and if i decided to get back into pure spl and do a ss class where its 100% funcionality and nothing else then maybe ill consider an astro.......OR A TERRA
