| As Jenissa outlined on her thread, the Street Beat CD contains identical instrumentals and bass note structure, with different tones used. The data I collected jives with hers 100%. I used the "Spectrum" tool in Audacity 1.3 for Tracks 2-10 encoded using Ogg Vorbis.
I've given a short version for those who just want to know what song to use... and a long version for those who want to understand the structure of the songs and usable sections.
Short Version: Use the section from 2:21-2:59. Track 2 - 110 Hz Track 3 - 93 Hz Track 4 - 78 Hz Track 5 - 66 Hz Track 6 - 55 Hz Track 7 - 46 Hz Track 8 - 39 Hz Track 9 - 33 Hz Track 10 - 27 Hz
Long Version: Each song can be deconstructed into a big ugly mess: 0:04 - 4s @ A 0:08 - 1s @ B 0:09 - 3s @ A 0:12 - 1s @ B 0:13 - 22s @ A 0:35 - 1s @ C 0:36 - 3s @ A 0:39 - 1s @ D 0:40 - 4s @ A 0:44 - 1s @ C 0:45 - 3s @ A 0:48 - 1s @ D 0:49 - 12s @ A 1:11 - 1s @ C 1:12 - 3s @ A 1:15 - 1s @ D 1:16 - 4s @ A 1:20 - 1s @ C 1:21 - 3s @ A 1:24 - 1s @ D 1:25 - 20s @ A 1:45 - 4s @ E 1:49 - 1s @ F 1:50 - 3s @ E 1:53 - 1s @ F 1:54 - 4s @ E 1:58 - 1s @ F 1:59 - 3s @ E 2:02 - 1s @ random notes 2:03 - 4s @ A 2:07 - 1s @ B 2:08 - 3s @ A 2:11 - 1s @ B 2:12 - 4s @ A 2:16 - 1s @ B 2:17 - 3s @ A 2:20 - 1s @ B 2:21 - 38s @ A 2:59 - 4s @ fade out + silence
where the letters stand for different frequencies for each track. Track 2: A = 110 Hz ... B = ___ Hz ... C = __ Hz ... D = __ Hz ... E = __ Hz ... F = __ Hz Track 3: A = 93 Hz ... B = ___ Hz ... C = __ Hz ... D = __ Hz ... E = __ Hz ... F = __ Hz Track 4: A = 78 Hz ... B = 117 Hz ... C = 60 Hz ... D = 62 Hz ... E = 55 Hz ... F = 83 Hz Track 5: A = 66 Hz ... B = 98 Hz ... C = 51 Hz ... D = 52 Hz ... E = 47 Hz ... F = 69 Hz Track 6: A = 55 Hz ... B = 82 Hz ... C = 42 Hz ... D = 43 Hz ... E = 39 Hz ... F = 58 Hz Track 7: A = 46 Hz ... B = 69 Hz ... C = 36 Hz ... D = 36 Hz ... E = 33 Hz ... F = 49 Hz Track 8: A = 39 Hz ... B = 58 Hz ... C = 30 Hz ... D = 31 Hz ... E = 28 Hz ... F = 41 Hz Track 9: A = 33 Hz ... B = 49 Hz ... C = 25 Hz ... D = 26 Hz ... E =23 Hz ... F = 35 Hz Track 10: A = 27 Hz ... B = 41 Hz ... C = 21 Hz ... D =21 Hz ... E = 20 Hz ... F = 29 Hz
What you can get from this, is that we have 22s, 12s, 20s, and 38s sections which MIGHT be usable. Sadly, they're all on "Tone A" so just use the 38s section.

| Chapdawg: "WHAAAT?!?! OKAAAAY!!!" - Lil Jon has left the building. You've got Track 7 or Track 8 now.
Since you get 2 runs, just do 1 of each with your current setup and see which meters better... then adjust your box and port tuning to focus on that tone. It won't hurt your score too badly if you're a couple Hz off after you've compensated for it appropriately.
Thanks for the positive feedback, guys.
Alot of odd things about the CD: 1) Why is there only 1 Street Beatable section per song? The CD was purpose built... right?? 2) Why do we have track 2 and 3 if they're illegal to play? If it's on the CD it should be legal. This CD was purpose built... right?

The bass notes range from -8.5 dB to -9.5 dB during the straight sections. Oddly, the lower frequencies are recorded slightly louder. I didn't monitor clipping, but that's on the list for tonight. To the ear it's not significant, but there's probably some. Ralph said it was produced by Bass Mekanik (supposedly) ... so I doubt it's clipped to hell like a bad mixtape. Sounded atleast B-grade on my Skullcandy FMJ's (love their detail and bass, by the way)

| Schnykies! I've gotta double-check that. +16 dB would be a MONSTER clip... like you're only getting the first 3% of the wave height. The other 97% is clipped off. That's an ugly square wave, and not good for a Street Beat setup. If you're right, we better start asking for our money back from Mr. Bass Mekanik. Here's a 3dB clip for reference, | |

Pretty sure I'm going something wrong now. This is the first time using the audacity spectrum analyzer. Since the spectrum didn't show anything lower than 86hz I changed the top right drop down box with numbers from 512 to 2048 making the lowest number 22hz. What I've realized is that in doing so the peaks get amplified. How am I suppose to do this the correct way? Interesting....I was using v. 2.6 and downloaded the new v.3 and am getting entirely different numbers. For track 8 I now get -7db @ 39hz

I guess bad because if its recorded way low like that that means that gains will have to be increased which may lead to more clipping of the amps and heat for the subs.

| I tried it last night with the zips I got from Poundstone and noticed a difference. I had to adjust the bass level on my H/U to get to where I was at before as well as tweak the gains. It also could be that something was lost in the conversion process since I couldn't get them into Apple lossless and played them off of a thumbdrive as well. If anyone has them in the MP4 format already I'd like to give it a try, because I'm thinking it can't be that bad...... | |

| Hey F150 guys,
The bass note is -8 to -10 dB throughout the song.
The total output level averages -8 to -5 dB. There is a LIGHT clip during each of the snare drum hit at the end of each bar. There's a strong clip during the snare roll every 16 bars.
THIS IS A WELL RECORDED TRACK. It may not be a pure tone like your SB song... and it may not be overdriven (then compressed) like Gucci, Jeezy, and every techno song ever made. The tracks offer a strong, clean signal that's recorded at the proper level. Plus, the bandwidth on the bass notes are pretty tight.
There's nothing to complain about with regard to the production or mastering. Just set your gains properly (like you would for daily, not for tones) and you'll be golden. Decaf recommends -5 dB tones for gain setting and that's just fine for this. You'll get most of your rated power when the volume knob gets into position. Those who like to go balls-deep, let it ride 1 or 2 clicks higher on the volume knob.
