His name is Carlos. He has competed regionally in texas for a number of years with a Chevy Imapala. His car will more than likely be in Consumer advanced. It has seatbelts now, and wipers.

Is this the guy that had the black SS that was at 05 Finals?
Nice guy. He took second at Brand X this year. I needed a name so I could see where he finished. I heard they tore into his car pretty thoroughly...1 hour 45 minutes. Yikes.

But he competed in the equivalent of Expert in Brand X with Gary doing his presentation...

He did take second. Gary was only a co-pilot for the presentation. The judges gave him 0's in a few categories they should not have. The Judge admitted he messed up.....it was a pretty big f-up.

Congrats to him.

Not to be a dick but he comes into Inter Pro... Im pointing out a few other reasons why he shouldn't be in anything but Expert. Food for thought.

ummm...you compete Expert at Finals for Brand X you will be Expert at USACi as well.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but you are both my friends and both a little off. USACI does not honor anything related to Brand X...that is per Ralph Randall. I talked to him this weekend in Tulsa. Secondly, they (being Gary Biggs) went through the car and the rules and brought it current so it would not have to be put in expert. Thirdly, it he would be in consumer advanced...not pro. Carlos buying that car is no different than a customer giving an unlimited budget to build a car and do whatever I want to it. The only difference is he bought the car with the install done. I understand your hesitation guys, but he isn't even coming to USACI Finals. So everyone breathe just breathe and relax.......LOL.

...if he wants to come he can come, my opinion is he should be stuck in at least pro since he went expert and placed at Brand X...I like ya Larry...but I think Larry should be stuck in Expert at USACi also since he was in Expert at Brand X as well.
It should go to R&E IMO.

It's looks pretty plainly written in the USACi Rule Book to me...

"Any competitor who competes in USACI will be required to compete in the equivalent or higher classification or division as they are competing in at other legitimate sanctioning bodies."

Here's all I can say about the rules. If it's written in the book, then that's the rule I follow. If the rule is deleted/changed/misplaced at some point, I will follow the updated rule. Ralph and I have gone round and round about rules and Ralph saids in the past (Mickey can speak to that first hand ) and every time there is a Ralph said that overrules a written rule, well, let's just say that I'm EXTREMELY unhappy about it. I'm about being fair to everyone (read following the published rule book) and not seeing who is the most connected or has the bald guy's cell phone number and will call him and complain, sometimes during the show.

FWIW, I sent an e-mail to Ralph about this a couple of minutes ago to get clarification.

I just deleted the IASCA word ref in the filter. D B D R A G was also in there and my guess is that there were some draggers trolling the SPL forums and caused a mod to over-react. Since MECCA, , (insert your favorite SQ org here), etc weren't also included, there was no reason to include IASCA in the word list.

All I can say is that crap is in the book...If I don't see Carlos' Regal and Larry's Expedition in Expert IF THEY SHOW...I'll be shocked. There's more than one way to skin a cat. You two guys understand something if you are reading this...we have nothing against you personally...it's just that Tim and I are both pointing out the rule book. Until it's changed, I'll stand on it.
