any suggestions on a sub that has a stiff spider? the AQ over extends too easy, which sounds like they are bottoming out. the subs are great for music not for what i am trying to do at this time.

i talked to DJ, he can not help me, the hd's isn't a spl sub

the AQ is a great SPL woofer, the only down side to them is the thermal of the thin coil. the only woofers i know of that will handle more power mechanical would be some T3 tsns. other than that your excursion problems are going to stick around with any other woofer you try... untill you fix your box..

Why arent you running DD? Jassa will build you any spider config you want. Tell him what was happening with the AQ's and I'm sure he can figure something out for you.
Because he uses a series of softer spiders instead of one or two heavier stiff spiders, he's able to add or take them away to get a desired formula at the customer's request.

FYI, Five or six soft spiders sandwiched together vs one or two stiff spider may indeed have the same overall resistance and firmness, however, the stack of softer spiders have a more linear travel as they stretch up and down, keeping the voicecoil aligned within the magnetic gap more precisely.

sum of my teammates had the same issue wit audioque 15s..both the copper and aluminum coils..but never wit the 18s...weird?? and i agree wit zacdavis..give jassa a call!!

want to trade two for my eclipse TI pro or maybe solo x 18?
