| Too bad they didn't promote this show at all here; shitty or not locals(like myself) would have shown up regardless. But, no one I know even heard about it. As for having to park in dirt that's BS right there. | |

I can't explain how bad it was, but you guys are lucky you were at the show you were at.
I wish I could have been at the USACi show in AZ that day, but if I had the opportunity to do that I would have made the Hobbs show first. BTW they had like 85 entries there...
Let me rant about one little thing while I'm thinking about that show: How can anyone who does installs be trained as a (four letter word) SQ judge? They can never say one of their installs wins or they're biased and it's an unfair judging. They can never say one of their installs loses or they're a lousy installer that just took some dude for $4,000 on an install that can't even win with his biased ass judging. The RTA and the TL are the only non-biased ways of judging IMO Sorry to heart you had such a bad time at that show. Hope no newcomers got a bad taste from it. I understand that despite the horrible show we had that weekend at Tucson, they had the exact same number of cars. Sometimes promotion is not the only reason a show does not do well.
As for USACI we must promote USACI as a fair and unbiased event. The guy doing MECA is a manufacturer Rep and is doing cheap/free shows for his retailers to promote his business and products. With that as his driving force he can do these events cheap or free and write off the expense as a product promotion. That is his deal but USACI cannot do that. We are not manufacturer representatives and cannot give our dealers free shows knowing we will get it back later if they sell more products as a result. We must remain impartial and unbiased and promote every event in order to pay our expenses and to maintain the credibility of the retailer, the cars that win the events, and the organization.
As for the MECA director, he signed on to do USACI, made several posts and started promoting USACI, and then his manufacturers caught wind of it and he got in trouble. Seems they only sponsor MECA. He asked to be released from his contract a week after he signed it and we said ok. That is his deal and we respect that. He is in business to pay his bills as are we.
USACI will do shows for anyone who wants one and will do it at a fair price and promote it as such. We feel our format is the best out there and have based our careers on it. If a retailer in AZ wants a USACI event we are there. We cannot do it free, we cannot let his customers win unless they deserve it, and we cannot take the credit for the hard work the retailer puts into promoting his event. USACI is a tool to be used by the retailers and enjoyed by the competitors. As long as we do not lose sight of that we are in business.
If you are curious about MECA, there are several in AZ and I suggest you go try one of their events and decide for yourselves. Some love them and some do not. Same as for USACI. | |
