Is my battery bad?

I know I can bring my car to any number of local auto parts stores and have them put it on their lil machine to find out...just wanted to get ya'll opinion first.

If I try to start the car, it acts like the battery's very low....the engine doesn't try to turn over, dome light and dash lights are very dim. When I put the meter on it, it showed 12.7v. If I jump if off, it cranks up just fine. I drove it for an hour or so and shut it down. I immediately tried to crank it up again, and same symptoms were there.

So...whatcha think...i need a new battery?

It sure sounds like it. Another test is with the volt meter on the battery . Try to start the car and watch where the voltage drops. Below 11 volts is to low.

Yeah, the voltage is good but that battery can't handle a load so I'd definitely say its a goner. You could try to completely discharge and give it a full recharge, I think they call it resetting a battery or something like that. I've never done it but I've heard it works

Well, my charger has a "recondition battery" option, which I think you're talkin about. It will take 24-48 hours to complete the process. I'll update this post when it's done.
