Need some help on balanced outputs

I am putting a Kenwood Excalon KDC-PS909 in my new project. The head unit has balanced outputs. One set of RCA outputs has + balanced and anther has - balanced. There is also a non fading output set of RCAs.

Do I need anything special to use the balanced outputs?

What brand/model of amplifiers are you using?

To take advantage of the balanced outputs on your radio, you need to make sure you are using amplifers that accept a balanced input.

I would venture to say about 95% of amps nowadays do not accept a balanced input. Back several years, balanced inputs/outputs were a nice feature when you ran into noise issues with certain electronics. Those issues have been addressed over the years and balanced inputs/outputs are not as frequent in car audio any longer.

If you aren't using balanced outputs of that radio, there's a setting in the menu to turn the RCA's to front/rear/sub instead of balanced left/balanced right/sub.

I plan on running it into an Audiocontrol 24XS then to the amps. Eventually add an EQ to the mix

I looked up the 24XS on their website, and even though it states "balanced inputs" it's not the same type of balanced inputs.

The balanced output on your Kenwood 909 uses the center pin of the front left RCA for left + and the center pin of the front right RCA for left - signal. It does the same thing with the rear RCA's and makes them into right + and - signals. Essentially you have up to 4v of + signal and 4v of - signal equaling a total of 8 v of balanced signal. It's a little more complicated than that, but I don't feel like typing a dissertation on the subject

The 24XS only has a left and right input (1 pair of RCA connections), then a pair of RCA's for highpass output and another pair of RCA's for lowpass output each with left and right channels.

Are you only planning on running 2 amplifiers since the output of the 24XS only supports a highpass and a lowpass signal?

Just two amps for now, I may add a third and just add another 24XS.
I am planning on running front components and a sub(s) but might add a mid-bass if I can find a good mounting spot.
