Tuning and Box in a crx??

Subject: Tuning and Box in a crx?? Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:57 am

Hey I am fairly new to usac, I have a crx that I would like to get loud and I am looking for some direction on what to try. For normal burping (db drag style) it likes 56-58hz but usac is a different thing right? What are people using to get these crazy 160+ scores? Big boxes and low tuning or opposite or what???

frequency changes alil mines around 67hz......Ive done good with 1 12, 4 12's, 6 tens, 12 tens.......u can get away with the same boxes you use in drag just gotta test alil differently

I'm interested as well. In say Street A class of DB drag it goes like this:

- car off
- 650 cu in batt (under hood)
- sub limited to 3-8" ,2-10",1-12"
- single amp

these are kind of the highlights. Just trying to finds ideas of how I caould build a car that can be competitive in both org.

Subs would either be 4 12's or maybe 2 15's? It could be different, I am open to suggestions. Does more cone area rule in Usac? Because i can do that too.

I am not looking to get away with the same db drag box, I would like to build the loudest usac style box, just wondering what that entails, is it alot of cone area or low tuning or alot of port or what. I see some 160's and I am just looking to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks guys.

i did a 160.9 with 4 12's in the kick did 161.3 with 12 tens.....same power.....

your boxes for the most part will be the same as drag...really just got throw the mic in the kick and start testing and change port lengths and what not move the box around from side to side front to back adjust port lengths

my crxs liked around 71 hz, but i was only doing a 157 with 4-12"s

With 4 12's which way were they firing? all forward, all up, to the side???

i did all forward and 2 forward 2 up and that one was .4 louder than all forward......my old crx went to 71 hz and i know why it did now it tore a huge hole in the fire wall

WAS GOING TO SAME THE SAME THING THAT TIMMAY JUST DID 4 12'S AND 4 KICKER KX1200.1'S DID 162.

RUNNING A TON OF SUBS REQUIRES ALOT MORE KNOWLEDGE THAN JUST CONE AREA LOL

LAST YEAR 8 10'S DID 162

YEAR BEFORE THAT 10 10'S DID 163.6
