| guys if i have a hu with a 5 volt preout and i send it to four amps how much voltage is each amp actually seeing? will each amp get 5 volts each or will it be less than 5 volts if it is less then can i use my maxxlink to get each amp at least 2 volts to each is this the way it works or am i completely wrong??? need help dont wanna blow inputs on new amps | |

| First and formost ... if the unit says 5 volts doesn't mean it sends 5 volts all the time. Volume will affect voltage. Second, the 5 volts may be a fully clipped signal ... so all the voltage may not be usable. Even if you have your volume set on 25 and you change CD's only ... the voltage coming out of the RCA's will be different depending on the recording on the CD ... etc ...
Ohm's law states voltage in a parallel circuit will remain the same while current changes. So the original answer to your question is voltage will stay the same.
You should ask me about line drivers to see if they are really needed, lol. | |

| Use an o-scope to check your actual voltage without clipping. | |

| They sell this little amplified speaker over at radio shack ... a couple of resisters ... and you have yourself an audible way of hearing distortion ... this yields about a 1.5-1.75 % distortion that the human hearing can hear.
