| Anyone on here running a 16v system daily? Just got my second alt up and running (finally) and got my batts/amp all wired up. Anyone have any charging issues at 18.0v? 18.0 is the highest recommeded voltage for my sundown 3000d but 18.8 is whats recommended to charge the batteries. I have the external regulator set at 18.0 now and im looking to get a volt guage soon to check up on everything | |

| My CRX is a 16v/18v setup. We have a Power Master XSvolt 200 amp alt. set to 17.9. It charges the rear batteries(also Power Maser) and runs to a stepdown voltage regulator that feeds the fuse block under the hood.
As far as charge rate. Most batteries need two volts extra to charge correctly. A good 16v battery will rest around 17v. So, 19v or so, for a good charge.

| actually to fully charge a 16 volt system, you can go up to 20.664 volts.
2.583 volts per cell is optimum charge for most 8 / 16 volt batts.
When i wasnt in the lanes, the alts in my van were set to 20.50.
