| LOL...I finally got the new headers and bigger turbo lined out on the Buick. It's fun again... I think I may order a Alcohol kit for it...haven't decided yet. The idea of 23 psi or so on pump gas sounds fun. It's at 18 now (93 oct) and will EAT a speedometer. | |

| Gas money hurts...ack, the Buick is on 93 right now. I've got 5 gal of VP Q16 in a jug at $12/gallon though. That sir, is too high. That's why I'm thinking 93 plus shoot 100% straight methanol at it. Word.
Just an FYI: The Buick gets 22ish mpg cruising (hwy and interstate) maybe a little better The Corvette gets 32mpg cruising (interstate).

| Lou what all have you done to the GTi?...I've got some VW buddies around here. I'm wanting to start modding the C5 but I haven't decided if I'm keeping it...as I have been approached by a few folks locally wanting the car because of how rare a 6sp FRC is (2090 made). The only reason I sold my truck for the C5 was that it got me out of a car payment. Now I love driving it and gets rockin awesome fuel mileage to boot! George I heard you were pimpin' something Italian now...or a two seater 'snake'..curious which one is true. | |

| Hey Sketoe...both Jan and I have been on the road all week with work stuff.
Our supercharged Dakota R/T is a buttload of fun as well, but damn, we can't afford to fill the damn thing up right now.
Around town (pretty much the only time we drive it) it gets about 10-12 mpg. But that's mainly due to a very heavy lead foot.
If we want to go fast, and seriously carve some corners, we get on the bikes. We are going to Colorado for a week-long vacation in July. 55-60 mpg rocks! But if you do the math, each bike at 60mpg is the same as 2 people in a car getting 30mpg.

Cams, bigger valves, bigger pistons, lighten rod, lighten crank, LSD, headers, exhaust, whole engine is coated by Polydyn inside and out, etc. Pretty much anything and everything you can do to a motor and stay NA it has been done. Most of the work was done by me and a buddy of mine in my garage. Boring of the engine and valves was done by a friend up in NC. All I have left is delete the AC and heater box and reconnect the motor. I say all because it has been like that for about 2 years.

Had an 05 Viper and got rid of it and got a stallion for the stable. The other toy is an 03 Hayabusa with a Velocity Racing Stage 1 turbo. So who's getting a life insurance policy on me??????

What year and model VR6 (12V or 24V) does he have? What performance stuff does he have already? It isn't running yet but I plan to have it running again sometime this summer. He is more then welcome to see it or chat with me. I have built a couple of VR6 in my days.

| hah! its nice to see some gearheads on this forum. just registered today, actually. (note to jsketoe: you have mail)
im putting a stereo into a '98 camaro six speed. its been the project from heck for the past nine months; I cannot beleive how fast it has sucked all available cash from me. I love to have a car that can handle and accelerate, so ive got involved with sam strano, who sells a SCCA champion designed suspension with new shocks, struts, swaybars, a-arms, nylon bushings everywhere, torque and panhard bar, springs, 17" c5 zo6 rims, etc.etc.
ive covered most of the interior panels with a high quality leather-grade automotive vinyl(gotta love the gm plastic cheapness), installed a pro 5.0 billet short shifter, am rebuilding the transmission as we speak, installed some new leather corbeau style seats, carbon fiber driveshaft, 3.73 rear end gearing with a custom built axle brace, about to do the stereo, and havent even gotten to drive it yet!
the motor *should* be finished here shortly. waiting on the machine shop to finish balancing the rotating assembly. ive got that same motor that you have in the vette, an ls-1, with a set of 215cc trick flow cnc heads, a 336/238 cam, asp pulley, kooks headers and exhaust, a ported FAST 90 intake and billet 90mm throttlebody, forged rods and pistons, among too many other things to list. I cant wait!

| I went last year with the small turbo and no transbrake. Car kept rolling through the lights trying to build boost. So, launching at 0 psi sucks in those cars...to the tune of 2.3 60ft. LOL. The car trapped 118mph though. TE44 and 23 psi. Now it's got a CPT 61 P-trim ball bearing unit...and a trans-brake. SHould be a mid 11sec car fairly easily if I can drive it...that's on moderate boost like 21-25. | |

ehh a friend of mine from around here has a GN buick. hes been able to click off some extraordinary 60ft times with a transbrake, but he had to have his transmission and driveline rebuilt more than couple times to take the abuse. he is also running 11's, i think hes pretty deep into them, around 11.2-11.2's or so at ~4000 elevation. its a quick car, and a fun sleeper if people dont recognize it for what it is! the vette motor will respond very well to mods. you can spend 3 grand and jump to 430-450 @ the wheels at sealevel or spend 9 grand and hit 500 or so at the wheels/sealevel, all naturally aspirated. of course, you could always spend 4 1/2-5 grand and have it run 440 at the wheels with an extra 100-150 shot plumbed in for some real fun

| I have a friend of mine that is thinking about my car for a test mule for his new turbo system that he is designing. It will be similar to the STS Turbo system in that it won't be under hood but rather in place of the muffler.
I am contemplating it completely, If I do go this route, I won't be able to be at the TTown Regional in my car, but I will probably be there for support.
Anyway, take a look at STSturbo.com to see what I am looking at doing.
