| i said it lastnight ill say it again spoiled spoiled americans this is what europeans say about all of us I was in germany for 3 lovely years, and paid $2.25 a liter for fuel basic math thats 9 bux a gallon. Moral of the story is we are spoiled on this subject, and complain when we got it good.
best comparison is a pak of cigaretts is more than a gallon of gas now this about that and ask wich you need or value more

| Europeans have access to decent mass transit, and live in countries that are smaller than some of our states. We have Greyhound and Amtrack.
Name another necessity of life that has quadrupled in cost over the past 10 years, while the companies that manufacture it are making the largest profits (percentage-wise and in total dollars) in our nation's history.
Already said it. Gas hits $5 a gallon, it's time to hit the streets with pitchforks and torches.

| Mopeds and bicycles. How asinine. Like anyone that lives outside the city has that as an option.
I don't know of any 8 mile per gallon vehicles being sold, and it's not just people with SUVs that have to buy gasoline. I drive a truck because it's what I use to haul my equipment. You want to design a moped that hauls an 18 ft trailer?
The statement that bad gas mileage makes you out of shape is pure nonsense. None of the cars made in the 50's and 60's got good mileage. Were the people out of shape back then too?

I hear about this all day everyday at school! You are right. That is why the foreign investors are buying up American businesses. Pretty soon more business will be run by foreign countries.

| i have learned working with ev's that people won't change if gas was $10 a gallon we would still buy it, just like cigs how much for a carton now? don't see many stop smoking?
there is no reason besides greed to still be on gas.

| The problem with gas prices not dropping is not because of shortage of oil. People are investing in the stocks making the value stay up. The demand is there for the gas. Now might be the best time to look at Hybrid. | |

| I'll grant that most people own cars that are far more than what they need. I saw this coming about 10 years ago when the suburbanites that make the daily exodus past my house started buying the V-8 Navigators b/c gas was 89 cents a gallon.
Then there are people that don't really have a choice. If they built a truck that didn't use gas that could haul my gear, I'd buy it. They don't and so I am stuck paying 5x what I paid 10 years ago for something I am forced to rely upon. Then, when I say that maybe something isn't right here, I get reprimanded for not appreciating for "how good we have it."
I'm not wasting my time arguing this. If you think $5 a gallon gas is ok, fine. Get a horse, moped, skateboard, dog sled or whatever makes you feel better than the rest of us. I could care less.
