Joint Finals a success. USACI numbers down due to very remote (from USACI) location but better than expected. Results posted on web site.

PostSubject: amp/sub question   amp/sub question Icon_minitimeTue Jul 03, 2007 9:37 pm

I have a tech. question I'm hopin someone can help me out with.
I am running a singe 15", Eclipse Ti Pro. It has 4 voice coils. I was running one Orion 2500D at 1 ohm. I just picked up a second 2500D. I would like to put both of them on the one 15, .5 ohm per amp.
I have seen setups with multiple amps on single subs, and I was wondering what kind of tuning needs done to do this. I can wire it up, looking at one amp on 2 coils, and would be running .5 ohms per amp. I know the amps will handle it, but I don't want to see the sub go up in smoke.

Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, gain matching is going to be the biggest thing. Wink Sometimes more power will cause your tuneing to change, may have to compensate for that.

And for Kasey.

Hey

I got most of my info from the dealer here. As far as power handling, the manual says 1000 watts RMS per coil. I have never found a peak power rating, but I have seen these handle insane amounts of power. The last I metered, I was running @ 5000 watts to one 15, and that doesn't even come close to overpowering it. My best score with this is 147.5 in SB2.
I looked up the magnet size and it has triple stacked magnets, total of 393 oz.
as far as sound, with the setup I'm running, i rarely use it to listen to, but it is fairly smooth and responsive. Just takes a lot of power to get it moving.
From what I was told a while back, they no longer make these, but there are other subs that are comparable.
Hope this helps
