| Our little hole in the wall store has been struggling for about a year now. Sales have been declining as well as installation of internet and Wal-Mart electronics.
We moved into a better location geographically speaking, hoping it would give us a little push. That hasn't helped so far. So with all of that said, our store owner decided the only way to try to get his head above water was to start downsizing. Well I have the least experience and have been there the shortest amount of time so it starts with me.
I am still a little in shock...I got laid off today. He said he will still let me use the shop for my builds and let me purchase equipment at cost. I guess that is supposed to make me feel a little better.
There is only one other shop in town and from what I here they are currently in worse shape than us. I wouldn't work there anyway. They don't have such a great reputation. I don't know what I'm gonna do for now. I have a little money stashed back to live on. It was supposed to be going toward some new equipment for the truck this spring. in the mean time I still have a $6000.00 dollar Snap-On/Matco bill to deal with. I don't want to give up the tools I've aquired over the last several years.
I just don't know what to do. Do I look for work elsewhere and relocate or just change what I do for a living?
Sorry guys but I had to share (vent) with someone.
I hope I can still make it to some shows. I love this stuff!

| Thanks for the kind words guys. I would like to stay in the same area that I'm in now. South of MO and KS. I haven't decided what to try and do just yet. I may even try to go into a different field . After my 2 years is up I could compete in Consumer if I wanted to. Doubt that will ever happen though. I have the bug pretty bad! | |

| We are always looking for qualified installers and we can never keep up with the work load. granted car audio is only about 30% but the custom work makes it less of a drag. we have a nice community. good schools. small town feel
send me your resume if you are interested in relocating. just from the post here on the forum i can tell you are the passionate car audio type we look for.
good luck either way man.

| Thanks Crush. However tempting it may be, I don't think the wifey will go for that far of a move.
Sketoe...I got your message this weekend. Sorry I haven't called back yet. I was busy working on my little enclosed trailer. I'm getting it ready for my tools and tool boxes.
Tasha wants to stay in Akansas if possible. She would prefer NW Arkansas. Her favorite aunt and uncle live in Bentonville. I hate moving altogether. I like Hot Springs but the town just doesn't support car audio.

| Thanks Jimbo. I'm in Hot Springs, AR. I haven't decided what to do just yet for sure. My other half will have alot to say about it. So far she's been very supportive. She said she would be behind me if we need to move. I feel if I stray too far from where we are now she won't go for it. | |

| My boss and I spoke at length about my situation today. He did not realize I was thinking about relocating to find work in the same field. He was under the assumption that I would find something else to do for income until the store could afford to bring me back. He seemed a little dissapointed that I might not hang around to see what happens. I'm a little confused about what to do. But I know I need to do something quickly. I will be working through Saturday at the store. He is paying me for another week even though I will spend most of it filing for unemployment and looking for a new job. I appreciate all of the support I've been getting from you guys. I have no intensions of letting this get in the way of my quest to reach the top of USACi competition. | |
