| Get with Erik at Kinetik. I know a lot of the guys in SPL are using them so I would think they would translate to the SQ side pretty easily.... | |

| I'd also recommend the Kinetik. We've been running a red top Optima for years now in the GTi, but when we don't drive it, it stays on a battery tender in the garage.
A few things to consider about the Kinetik: If you need dual battery posts (top and side), they don't have it. The HC1800 is about the same footprint as the Optima, but about 1-1/2" taller. We have a brand new HC1800 out in the garage to go in the GTi, but we have to rebuild a bunch of stuff under the hood to fit it. That's only because we have a billet aluminum mount for the Optima and that won't work on the Kinetik.
Your Mustang may have plenty of room available, it just depends.
BTW, why are you going through yellow tops so quickly? They are deep cycle batteries and should recharge very well. If you don't drive your car daily (or at least a couple of times a week) I'd highly recommend a battery tender no matter what brand of battery you have in there.

| Like Monte said use a battery tender if your not driving the car often. I have had the same yellow top in my truck for 3 years now and never had a problem. But my truck is a daily driver. | |

| I've never had a problem with any of the yellow tops I've had in my cars for years. Just like any battery they will drain if not on a battery tender when not driving for extended periods of time. I'm in good with them and if there is anything I can do to help or solve your problem I would like to help. I am a strong believer in their batteries and hate to see anyone have problems with them. Pm or email me for more info. | |

| we have had no luck with optima either.
we use stingers
haven't tried kinetic
no battery should sit unattended for more than a couple days. if it is hooked up to something with a draw.
for luck at the 2008 world finals try a battery from wal-mart or autozone.

| I've got a redtop as my starting battery and it's been in there almost since I bought the car, about 5 years now. Beat the heck out of it when I had a system in my car and it's never let me down. | |

| I took a red top and attempted to fry it to warrnty it so i could upgrade to a yellow top marine for the little extra. Took 2 hours of dead short and a bunch of melted wire and running my SUV with no alt for a hour and 30 minutes to do the job. | |

| I have had no problems with my yellow top in the GN...I drive it on nice weekends...listen to it during the week. It lives on a battery maintainer pretty much if I'm listening...if it's long term listening it's on the Cascade power supply. | |

| Whats up James...On the stregnth YOU DA MAN! You derserved that win. You worked hard just like I did and its defenitely paid off for the both of us. But Ive had problems with yellow tops to. I think I might up grade to. It looks like a lot of people swear by Kenetic and I know they had a booth at finals. The thing is that many people need double posted batteries...like myself. | |

| Optima is not the same anymore. There is way too much returns from customers. Plus their price went up drastically. There are much better batt out there. | |

| Hmmm..................... Thanx for all the replies. I would love to go with Kinetic however I use 4 battery posts. I will have to talk to Wayne and see what he thinks. I do admit I am not the best at keeping the car charge while it is being stored. Even if thats the case I do charge it. Hmmm............. Maybe I have to have it charged all the time on the trickle charge of course. Optimas are expensive B*&%@'s hahaha. I will figure it out but thanx again everyone. By the way great job to you to Laboto!! Beating Scott Owens in port wars!!!! Thats impressive lol. Talk to ya all soon!! | |

| Johnson Controls bought them. They make a lot of batteries for a lot of people, but like a lot of places are more consernd with quanity. All battery prices have gone up, for the simple fact that lead has gone throught the roof. |

| James - If you think the Optimas are expensive, wait till you price out a Kinetik. Since we've got one in the garage fixing to go into the GTi, I sure hope they are worth their money.
Talk to the folks at Kinetik and you should be able to get a pretty good discount for being a world champ and competitor....we did.

| Kinetik seems to have great longevity. They also support our sport which is a plus and have some of the best customer service out there. For SQ I think they would do the job and more for you guys.
If you are looking for other options to shop around though, the new Powermaster 12 volt batteries are nice, Northstar Batteries are very powerful, and the Odyssey Batteries. Of the aforementioned batteries though I prefer the AGM style of the Kinetik, powermaster, and Northstars. I believe their technology will provide the longest lifespan. Of the three I believe the Kinetik uses thicker plates, at least over the Northstar, which will help provide more life to the battery. Hope this info helps.
