| I still don't understand the whole box rise thing so maybe I can get some help here. First here is what I am working with, I have a JBL/Crown A6000GTI amp that puts out its most power at 4ohm and 16 10's wired to 4ohm, well actually 3.7ohm. We finally clamped my amp to see what it is doing and at 35hz the readings came out to 4000 watts at 10ohm, at 45hz I am getting 4800 watts at just over 8ohm. We were discussing this and I figure I am going to get the subs reconed with new coils so my final reading will be 2ohm instead of 4ohm since it seems I have double the rise at volume. Now in theory this should get my amp to 4ohm at 45hz and get the most out of it but that is only at a burp. What if I play music (where the ohm load will constantly fluctuate) and have a 2ohm load at the amp will I lose power from the amp (the JBL/Crown loses power as you drop the ohm)? I care more about being loud at music than I do on a burp and I am old school where my thought is if you have a certain load at an amp to begin with then that is where the ohm stays. Any help would be appreciated.

| Unfortunately changing the port is not an option, sorry Chris, so I guess I will get the subs reconed/recoiled so my final ohm load at the amp is 2ohm and hope for the best. | |

| Alan, unfortunately the box was built into the car so it is now permanent. The box is roughly 16 cubes (before displacement), I had a friend suggest placing polyfill in it but I don't really want to do that. I guess I should not complain though, I am doing a 157 and change at 10ohm so that is good I guess. | |

| Umm, honestly I don't know (I am not good with the terms and mechanics of subs) I can tell you they are off the shelf Ascendant Audio Arsenal series 10's and the only modification done to them is they have dual 2ohm coils which were bridged internally to give me 1 connection to the sub that is 4ohm. I don't know if that will answer your question, sorry. | |
