Char pei's are interesting dogs. Chinese fighting dogs, bred for their wrinkly skin so that they could turn in their shin to attack their attacker. The part that I am not quite sure about is their mental stability. I have never had one; however, when I was young ( a long time ago, OK '77ish) a friend of my parents owned a pair of them for breeding purposed. Supposedly they had been smuggled into the country. At the time they were listed in the Guiness Book of World Records as being ultra rare. Roughly 150 at the time if memory serves me correct (many many smoking sessions ago so the numbers may be a TAD off).

Anyway, my concern would be the if they were so rare 30 years ago and so abundant now, were the stats of back then or did those that were alive become breeding machines. Furthermore if this was the case they would have had to be severely inbred along the way.

The video was funny and cute, yeah I said it, cute. Other than their snorting, they are cute in their own sort of way. So, since you have one, Kevin, can you answer my question?

I am not sure about those facts. But I don't think I will own another type of dog besides this one.
They are an aggressive breed for sure. Franky loves chasing squirles, rabbits, and chip monks. He is also very protective, if there is any noise, or someone knocking at the door, he is the first one to know. He is also very very smart, he even alerts us if someone pull in the driveway.
