Joint Finals a success. USACI numbers down due to very remote (from USACI) location but better than expected. Results posted on web site.

A solid front wheel would result in a crash for a mere mortals in crosswinds, in fact pros are not even allowed to ride them.

The only place you will see a front disc is on a high banked velodrome

The solid rear actually stabilizes the bike along with reducing drag, into a 15 degree cross/head wind it actually creates negative drag in the wind tunnel so it is actually pushing you along.

A solid on the front would not work since it can steer, the wind would cause you to crash, however the 60 mm like i have reduced drag over a stock box rim by about 200grams. I could go deeper in the front, but I wouldn't see any gains from going deeper until about 25 mph. Thats about pro level there, there are some mortals who can do 25 mph average for a sprint distance race, but most the top 10% is usually in the 22-24 mph range. I am on the bottom of that, I'm usually in about the 20% percentile on the bike prior to the new wheels

As for cost, the retail on the frame of the bike is worth about 3 D5's alone, of course I did not pay retail, the bike the way it sits in this pic, wheel and all I have about $2700 into it. I got the bike on super close out, reatil was $3500 and I paid $1700, added the wheels and a few other things. I also have a 90mm rear wheel that looks about the same as the front, just deeper.

As far as weight this one is actually heavier than my other bike, part of the reason, and you wouldn't think it, is the frame is actually heavier since it does not have a seat post, you would think deleting the seat post would make it lighter, but doing so the had to thicken the carbon in other areas to make up for it. In triathlon aerodynamics trump weight everyday of the week.

Sorry, weight on this one is 20lbs view from the front, and back, I'd like to get a center pull front and rear brakes to get the front brake cable and calipers out of the wind, but other than that, pretty aero.

I also have the skinsuit and space helmet for racing. The helmet saves about a min or so off a 15 mile ride so isn't just there to look rediculous.

Since you seem to be very well rounded and i'm sure educated on bikes, what do you think about Fuji bikes? My dad bought two back in the early 80's and they have the very thin "street/racing" tires on them? - sorry not sure the proper term for them, and i think he paid about $500 for them, i have possession of them and they haven't been rode in well over 20 years, are they worth fixing up?
