Finished my first half ironman

Yep that's where I want to be, had an enjoyable day and my fat ass finished in 6:52:54, not blistering fast, in fact quite slow, but had fun. For those that don't know, thats a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run.

Everything went fine till about 9.5 miles into the run when a little leprachuan or something jumped out of the ditch and stabbed knifes into my calves and I had to resort to walking. I managed to fight off the cramps up to that point by singing jodies to myself, but couldn't fight thes one off. Tried to run several times after, but the cramps would just fire right back.

Yep for sure I'm done competing in audio competitons after this year, had a lot more for finishing in 400th place out of 750 people than doing this stuff anymore. My hearts just not there anymore, but it used to be just as enjoyable in the past.

And for the recored I didn't really train for this race either, maybe next time I'll train and just be slow, rather than really slow, lol.

Way to go, Chad! An Ironman Tri is a major accomplishment. Run/Walk finishes included.

When I ran the Austin marathon in Feb, I had calf issues too... hills + electrolyte imbalance = walking the last couple miles.

Got any tips on efficient swimming? I'd love to do a tri, but can't swim any serious distance.
